Funny you should mention talk talk. I have a customer who has his 97 year old mother in law living with him so i always ring the day before i do the windows just so she knows to expect me....I tried them all day and the line just kept ringing as though it was engaged. So i was driving past later in the day and i knocked on the door just to tell them i'd be round tomorrow and he explained that they went over to talk talk 16 days ago and have not had a phone line or internet access since then!!!! He has been on his mobile to them 5 times a day, every day since and keeps getting told " we know about it and are trying to sort it out" Yeah right!!!

How bad is that...Not much talk talking going on in their house then!!!

Absolute nightmare was without internet access for 3 weeks, had to continually ring up for the internet box. Then when it came was unable to access the internet from 4.00 pm to 8.00 am for 5 months.

Must have rung around 50 times, always Indian call centres who talked a load of rubbish.

In the end I went into the shop and the girl behind the counter gave me the boss email. It took a month after contacting him to get it sorted out, did get compensation in the end.

We were with talk talk for around 5 months and the bills were heavier than BT!

don't know why, didn't do the maths just went back to BT, i've gone with other supposidly cheaper companys before and all i've had is hassle, i went with another company called lorate and the customer service didn't know thier arse from the elbow and anytime you needed them to service the line BT would make your life difficult because your not there customer anymore.

not worth it stay with BT

Ditto, that's why we had problems as soon as we changed from BT the gits changed our gain, all it needed was to raise it up back again.

But because of the tit for tat thats going on between BT and new companies we ended up with problems.

Were the domestic or business lines?

The one i have gone for was business @ £30 per month for Internet, phone and free calls to any 01 - 02 numbers between 9am & 5pm.

Numbers and e-mail addresses been transfered over so i don't have to re-sign van and paperwork.

Im with Talk Talk.

Fun and games getting the internet changed over to them and took months for them to send me a new broadband modem.
Got it in the end after emailing everyday for a week.

But now its fine.
The broadband connection is faster than i had with wannadoo but it does get dropped every now and then but i just reconnect and its fine.

I know when they brought in the free broadband offer they could not cope with the demand as it was higher than they expected as i see about it on tv.
But i think they have sorted most of that out now.

I will be sticking with them now as im now happy with the service.

Domestic, with it being Business you should have more say if anything goes wrong as you can claim loss business.

They told me that i use my exsisting modem so don't need to do anything else.
I'll have to wait and see.
I've been caught out alot lately by companies offering services etc and not getting what they said

I still think the best way is to stay with BT and route calls via an indirect access provider.  You may paty a bit more rental with BT but you get a lot more choices of who to route your calls through.  I currently use a company called Call18866
(  http://www.18866.com/  ) .
Oddly enough I have had to change my broadband provider because BT and Virgin.net made a complete pig's ear of my service and I was unable to get any broadband after Virgin's free "upgrade".  Therefore my broadband comes in via Telewest now on a separate line (luckily I live in a cable area).  I pay a bit more for it but it's 4x faster than the previous service (when it actually worked).
