Title: No Pure Healing!
Post by: Pj on December 07, 2006, 10:48:47 pm
Not sure where to put this topic.

I cut my thumb at the beginning of this week on a rose thorn, quite deep, bled quite a bit but I am on thinners! :o
Washed it in Pure water thinking that would clean it....

N o ! N o ! N o !

It looks infected.  It was fine until I washed it with Pure water??

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Pure water is only pure from the point of view that the minerals have been removed - the bacteria and virus' are still there - in fact, probably in a higher concentration as they just love growing in your ro - hey it could be leggionaires!

Heard it was only a little prick ;D

Like Johnboyfree said get to A&E in the morning.

I cut my finger on a Cactus years ago and ended up with blood poisioning.

You could see it creeping up my arm and was very painful.

Sorry I was only joking... Didn't mean to be un-sympathetic.

Is it any better today? If not you better get it looked at.

You lot make me laugh!
You go from totally lacking sympathy to sending me off in an ambulance! ;D
It'll be ok.  I just thought I'd warn others not to think Pure water comes from Lourdes!  No miracles I'm afraid.

Assuming the wound is still open, soak it in good old fashioned salted water for 20 mins.     Normal cooking salt that is.     Its what any Nurse would tell you to do.  Though if it doesnt get better, go to Docs.

If ever you go to france then buy some mecurecrome, over the continet they use this on any wound or cut and it works wonders.

Best get to the docs or minor injureys asap, infection travel quickly.

Only in certain tempratures not in this cold climate of ours.

Outbreaks occur from purpose-built water systems where temperatures are warm enough to encourage growth of the bacteria
