Title: how to encourage recommendations
Post by: Jason Atwell on December 05, 2006, 09:16:26 pm
I know some one before has mentioned this, after christmas i was thinking of creating a leaflet and passing it to my customers, a street at a time, it would say recommend me to a friend or relative and if i get the account your next clean will be free of charge.

Now i can see the pro's to this idea, can anyone see any problems?? ::)

if you do a good job, then people will recommend you anyway

i picked up 2 jobs today, both recommended from the same person

you could include on your "your windows have been cleaned today" slip

please recommend me to your friends

Dont get me wrong i do get recommendations, in fact i got one today, For example if i wanted a window cleaner i might ask a relative can you recommend anyone, but what i want is for my customer to ask around and recommend me to friends and family and to find a way of encouraging this.

Just thought it might get better results than just writing it on (your windows have been cleaned card)

I offer 10% off their next clean if they get me another regular customer.

Most of them have forgotten so never ask for the 10%

hi there,

if you ask me, that's far to generous. i'd go for: three recommendations and a free clean or even 50% off. think about it, if you've got a £10 house that recommends a £4.50 front, it's gonna take three months before you make the money back. it's a good idea though, one that i was thinking of exploring. what have you got to lose? a few quid for printing etc. seems pretty low for the potential custom you could gain.

cheers, matt
