I'm thinking of venturing out into the hard floor cleaning world and was wondering if it's a service thats in need?
Also would require a good training course.
I havn't a clue about pricing i guess it's almost the same as c/c in the sence you charge by the square foot.

I'm sure there will be a number of courses around the country. There was a free course at UK cleaning systems near St Andrews, recently, but a bit out of your way.
Call the obvious people............your host on here for starters.

Thanks Robbie.
I have looked at prochem which are ok but have found in the past with carpet cleaning they teach acid rince everything and if i cleaned everything how they recommended i would never get half my jobs clean.
I have a local company to me but they won't be indapendant as they will be recommending all there own products.

This is an area of cleaning that I have also been considering Rob and again like you not sure of pricing or if it is even worth while. Is there much call for this type of work.

I know there are rotary machines, designed specifically for tile and grout cleaning, imported and sold by the usual distributors, ie, Alltec, Hydramaster and probably Prochem and others, as they were originally designed for t/m use, but the newer ones are suitable for portable use.
There is even a new Ninja recently launched in the US with 1200 psi and tooled up for hard surface cleaning
Personally, I've had excellent results from a powerwash, which is currently for sale, as I'm starting to listen to my cardiologist !

Depends are you talking domestic or commercial work?
So right no such word as Independent they have a vested interest, your there to learn how it’s done, but there products may be the bees knees.
Acid rinse may be the case in some circumstances.
Like Robbie have a few machines for sale buffers/battery scrubber drier (new one order but bigger)
By the way don’t domestics.

Got my spinner in July this year. Haven't really advertised hard floor much but have done about 2 jobs per month.
I will be punting Hard floor very agressively from January onwards so we will see then how much business there really is.
To give an indication of Price, I charge 15% more per m2 then I do for carpet cleaning.

Cheers for the replys.
I have just spoken to a local company to me called Premier products.
They run a 2 day course once a month for a meer £105.
All types of hard floors covered from tiles to wood.
From what i can gather a lot of people are making good money from cleaning hard floors and would like to think with a bit of hard work i could tap in to a little of this market.
Vanguard pricing is one of the biggest problems as it's not always a case of by the square foot.
I should have asked if they cover pricing on the course as they always give you a rough idea on NCCA and Prochem C/C courses.
Len why not domestics? With C/C i can make more money a day than commercial.
Well done Macarther! Is this regular for a commercial client? How did you go about pricing.
Rob.
-
rob, i think to earn the sort of money you want you need a large area to clean, most domestics won't be worth the hassle for size of rooms.

Alltec, do courses
-
Rob
Premier sounds a good deal.
Not wishing to put a damper on your enthusiasm, have only been asked twice in two years for this service from domestic customers. Think Colin hit the nail on the head size.
Think you may find the courses are geared up for commercial work.
(Len why not domestics? With C/C i can make more money a day than commercial.) Can’t comment on what you make, all I can say wife one happy bunny!
If you find a niche in the domestic world please let me know!

Hi Rob,
Yes this is for a commercial client, I already do a couple of rest homes for them,
this particular contract is at there own home address, I have yet to see it and agree a price with them, still have no idea what to charge or how to price their stone floor.

Hi Shaun
I went to http://www.sheffieldcleaning.com/form.php
No address on the contact page
Vernon.
ps Sorry to anyone who got a mail out with the wrong postage, one of the girls who were using the franking machine messes up it broke down so they put stamps on them. They say they only did the last 50 or so, but i have had lots of comments about it so i think it was more than That
Once again i am sorry.
Did you see the price of the extractor £999 for a 135 psi
and £1500 for a 500 psi model
-
Vernon,
I read on an american forum that you were selling up and moving over there. Is this the case?
-
I was selling up and moving there, but a funny thing happened to me.
I tried to sell the company with about £280,000 assets in stock moulds and chemicals. I approached a few people in the business but I did not get a reasonable offer for it, so I sat down and thought, what am I going to do with all this inventory.
Then it dawned on me.
Make carpet cleaning machines and sell them really cheap with all the stock I have and that will use up all my inventory. So I did. They sold like hot cakes.
So again I sat down and said these are selling so well now, what I need to do is to make a profit on them. So I went to all my vendors who supply me parts and got them to supply me parts with a larger discounts. This way I could still continue making machines at this price and make a profit.
Then I bought a wand and hand tool company in Minnesota USA this makes our wands and contributes to lowing the cost of the carpet cleaning machine. This is what got me my green card
The long of it all now is that we can produce an extractor with 135 psi pump 2X3 stage vacuums, wand and hose for £999.00 + vat and a 500 psi with inline heat exchanger twin jet S-bend wand for around £1550 + vat.
So I will be living in the USA before 31 st March 2007 and we will still be manufacturing in the UK
