Ever since I bought a pump to up my pressure I have not needed to replace my resin, must be about 10 weeks now.
Taking into consideration that my DI cannister only holds 250 ml I was starting to wonder if my TDS reading was wrong. So I cleaned my own windows at the weekend & they were spotless, can't believe how much better my system is working since the pump.
How long does everyone elses resin last?
-
ive noticed that as well my di is only 10"
Do you leave your pump on all the time ?

No it doesn't run constantly, I only get through about 400 litres a day on average so it doesn't need to be on all the time.

Is it true you get less waste water if its pumped quicker into your RO unit and how much waste water do you get to make 400L of pure water, my TDS at the tap is around 300.
Cheers

Sorry Baz don't know the answers to those 2 questions.

Pressure is everything, down here we have tap pressure of about 105psi.
Bazz, the waste would depend on your input pressure and the type of RO you use. On 105psi input pressure with a 200gpd RO the ration is about 1.4:1

hi Paul can you tell me more about the pump you got to boost your pressure
i think i need one to produce more pure
thanks Jeff Bristol

Cheers Alex for clearing that up for me.
Im not sure what my tap pressure is unless you can tell me how i can test it but i do know it takes about 15mins to fill a 400L tank if that helps and im going for a 300gpd RO unit.
In only worried about the waste water because im on a water meter and changing over to WFP after xmas.
Cheers

Sorry Jeff been out all night so just seen your reply,
Can't really tell you much to be honest apart from it cost me around £65 - £70 plus delivery & it doubled my water pressure to around 70 PSI.
Oh and its dead easy to install. Just give Gardiners a call & leave a message for Kirsty, she will get back to you normally by the end of the day.

Sorry to question you Paul:
You are saying that you bought a booster pump that cost you £70 plus delivery (is that plus VAT @ 17.5%? = £11.75 = £81.75 plus delivery = £5.00 + vat = Approx £87.00 total?) Which has doubled your water pressure from 35psi to 70psi?
Can you confirm this?
Because I doubt it!

my water pressure is 50 psi without a pump and 2ltrs of resin lasts me 6 months
happy days

Flippin heck , what's this the Spanish Inquisition! I don't have time to check the exact price as I am about to go to work, but I will do when I get home but I'm sure it was around that price, give or take a few quid.
But the double in water pressure is a defo, I see it every morning when I check the water.

Sorry about that Paul, my post does come across a bit inquisitive doesn't it!
I am curious about booster pumps, having recently got one myself after what I thought was a lot of research.
2 points: 1. First I was pointing out that a lot of online suppliers advertise a price, but by the time you get VAT, Delivery + VAT etc £70 jumps to £90. Why can't they just say £90 all in ???
2. Secondly I was curious because when I last looked Gardiners booster pumps were about £145 + VAT etc, etc, = £about £170. So I was interested to see if you were using a different kind of pump to get your pressure up?
-
No probs Pj
Just checked my invoice, the actual cost was £65 before tax & delivery. Not sure what the delivery would cost as I bought some other gear at the same time but VAT would add another £11 on I think.
You are right, the pump they have on their website is more expensive, it is designed for a Merlin. The one I have is for a RO-Man unit. They don't list it on their website but if you ask nicely Kirsty can get one for you, just be prepared for a little wait as I don't think it's something they stock.

OK Paul.
I use a big 40x4 RO system so I needed a big booster. I'm producing 400litres of pure in 1 hour!
No messing about, bang, straight into the van tank, away I go.
-
Just wondered if you are already producing 400 litres in just 1 hour why you need a booster pump?

No, I have recently got a booster pump, and with it's help I am producing said quantity.
I didn't say I didn't have one, I said I am interested in them. I paid £220 for mine :o
Normal tap pressure here is 30 - 35psi, with my booster I sometimes get it up to 85psi, usually around 75 though. TDS is 350 - 360. It was coming out the RO at 35TDS then polishing it with resin. Thanks to the booster it now comes through the RO at 19TDS.
-
i haven't got a booster pump but 85psi from the tap but getting 3/4 tds before the ro
i was going to get a pump because the tank takes 6 hours to fill 500 ltrs do you think it will help or am i wasting my money??EDD

How do you find out your taps psi
Cheers
