As I am new to making pure water I just wanted some help /advise please.
I have set-up my r o man and have a pressure of 50psi.
Is this pressure ok ? or could I improve this with a pump and if so what sort should I get . My unit is a 450 gpd.
I am on a meter like many of you out there and I would like to drop my waste to the lowest level possilbe.
Thanks

I have two 300gpd RO Man units and one 4 x 40 commercial unit.
The two 300gpd units are running nearly constantly to keep up with our workload, they are both pumped and we are getting a water pressure going in of 100psi - just on the red.
One unit has been running for 2 years the other one for 1 year. I have never changed any filters and do not use polishing resin. We are getting a 000 purity level.
I believe that not only do you need to have a booster pump but the extra pressure could make it possible to not use resin.
I think that resin is a ploy from the suppliers and something that is not required - if you can get a decent amount of pressure.
In six months we have used 124000 litres of water and I am still getting 000.

Whats your TDS in reading Rob?
I have 40 inch RO setups all boosted, 200 and 300 GPD ones as well again all boosted and have never got zero out of any of them.
Its not just the TDS reading and pressure that have a bearing on reading out. It's also what the TDS is made up of.
Are you sure your TDS meters are calibrated properly :)

I have two inline tds meters and one hand held tds.
They read 000
Our water in is at 270 ish (hard water area)
I dont understand why we are getting this level of purity but we are and it has been going on for months and months.

Got to get this sorted and quick....need water

Midas,
The 300gpd type can be very economical to run under the right conditions, we have a 200gpd unit that never needs resin, it always chucks it out at about 001 ppm. We always recommend trying to set up a system around these units as they are so economical.
If you have never changed your pre-filters you will find that suddenly your reading will go up, not only will you then have to change your pre-filters but also your membranes as well , dirt will of got past your pre-filters and allowed algae and microbes to grow inside your RO membranes. When this happens you can either throw the whole unit away and buy a new one or flush it out with a bleach mixture until there is no slime inside the casings and then re-fit with new everything. The other option is to change the pre-filters once in a while!

I bought a pump from Gardiners for around £70, my pressure was a poultry 35, it has now doubled to 70.
I only have a 250 ml di cannister but since I fitted the pump I have not needed to change my resin once , must be around 10 weeks ago.
If you go on their website you wont find it I don't think, so just leave a message for Kirsty & she will sort you out.

Thanks Paul.
Got a pump ordered from kirsty and that should hopefully resolve this little problem. ;D
