Title: Very Bad Day
Post by: Atlantic Cleaning on December 01, 2006, 07:11:28 pm
Went to my first customer today all went well, as I left I walked up the path and bang slipped on some leaves fell and badly dislocted my right knee, my knee cap was pushed right round to the right of my leg and the lower bone was pushing out the side. Had to be taken to hospital by Ambulance and have it popped back in place, this has got to be the worst pain I experienced ever. I am sitting here tonight with my leg bound in a splint dosed up on pain killers feeling very sore and sorry for myself...  :(

So lets be carefull out there lol

A very sore Duncan

Yeah, the number one problem with self employment.
Sometimes I feel like I`m walking on a tightrope.
But Hey. Nowadays it`s pretty much the same for everbody.
Sorry to bring you all down.
I`ll go and stand in a corner now.  :-\
Speedy recovery to you.

I would just like to reiterate what I said - if you are self-employed and you are hurt or take ill,  then you are not earning.

" How long will it take before you are up and running or walking maybe?"

Surely that depends on how badly injured or ill you are.

All the best.

How long will you be off for?

Have you got any accident  insurance ?

I fell last week, but luckly I landed on the 50ft of hose I was carrying  :o

Made me think though, having to take the next month off would cost a fortune  >:(

hope you are well soon

Chris

I once had accident insurance, it's a load of rubbish!

There are variances on what caver but briefly:-

there is always an waiting period before you can clain minimum 4 weeks also they only pay a % of your wages, not your costs.

ie you take £100 a day and £50 is profit and they only pay 75% of your gross book profit = £37.50 which means that you aren't covering your costs.

I didn't think it was good sense

I have an excellant policy with a company called "combined insurance" pays out on a cold !...you can get the full range of cover ,accident, illness and hospital stay..It pays from day one i think and if for instance you can only manage light jobs after an illness/injury it even pays half pay.

Costs me in the region of £500 a year for full cover but you can tailor it to your needs (i have a large mortgage large family and would be buggered if i broke my ankle or something).

"Very bad day"

Could be worse. You could have joined the Allergstop network, and have to spend every night with the cornish crook!  ;D

You're better off buying a wish pot, which is a Piggy bank that does not open,
every day take the 1 and 2 Pound coins out of your pocket and put them in.
If you have an accident and can't work, smash it open.
A small pot 8" high x 6" circumference holds approx' £2000.

Unless you are extremely unlucky earnings cover is a total scam.
