lost a customer to pilkington glass today, customer of mine has had all new double glazing since my last visit, he reckons they will never be needed to be cleaned again. lost twenty pounds a month.
But he has got me a job doing his daughters windows.
Anyone else had this problem with pilkington glass? surely the rain must have to hit the glass to clean it, but how is this possible unless the rain is hitting the house from every angle and under the hang over of the roof?

He might just get you back in a couple of months, it works ok but not great

he will probably come back to you because any areas where rain doesnt hit will get dirty having said that he might just hose them down from the floor and ordinary water will clean them perfectly the bird muck on this glass just runs of without rubbing

Even if the rain does hit the glass its not going to clean his frames and sills and stop the spiders building nests and crapping all over them he,ll be back.

Pilkington's national sales manager/director was brave enough to come along to Windex04 and gave us a lecture on their "self-cleaning" glass. He admitted that it only worked under "ideal" conditions and that it should really be called low maintenance instead.
I don't recall him turning up at Windex06 ::)
Do a search for self cleaning and see what comes up.

Your customers pride will probably mean that he will not like to lose face and admit it doesnt work. So try to leave the door wide open for him to come back before you lose all contact. Maybe ask him could you call back periodically on a professional basis and see how its doing because, naturally, your really interested. 8)
But dont knock it till he does, if ever.

I'd go with what Jeff said.
But don't worry about i think a few people on here clean this, as already mentioned the frames don't clean themselves and we don't get the weather they need to clean themselves.
I think it even tells you on their website that in prolonged dry spells you have to "CLEAN THEM YOURSELF" ;D
It's just a con, which some people believe.
