Title: Help with pressure switch

Been wfp since March and been through a few pressure switches. Latest one been in approx 6 weeks and already knackered, usually last a few months!

Ive got a 75psi shurflo, normal bore hoses and turn my water flow off using a flow adjuster at end of hose, near pole.

Now, if i bought a varistream and disconnect pressure switch i know that will solve my problem, but if i use the flow restrictor to turn off my water will it cause unneccasary stress to my pump.

I know this will probably seem a silly question, but i want to keep using my flow restrictor to turn water on and off as its not always possible just to kink at the end of pole.

Is there another solution, or is Varistream the answer?

I fitted a Varistream with my 100psi Shurflo pump back in April this year and have experienced no problems so far. I also use a flow control valve at the end of my hose.
I switch the Pump on in the morning and switch it off a night.

I have a trailer system and the pump and Varistream are inside a waterproof box with an on/off switch on the side. (I drilled 2 drain holes in the bottom to allow any water leaks to escape.) I have set the Varistream up and never see it from one month to the next.

Hi

The Leisure Battery I have on the trailer doesn't go flat like it used to, so the Varistream seems to reduce the amount of current used by the pump.

I like the way that you can simply adjust your water flow at the brush head by turning the dial on the Varistream unit. I also don't use as much water as I did with the pump going at 'full throttle'.

I have also reduced the water pressure in the hose when 'standing' so blown Hozelock couplings are a thing of the past.

I recommend you purchase a Varistream - it is expensive for what it is, but what it does is more important and will more than compensate for it's initial cost.

I've got a varistream (with an autbrush) - it's great. No more blown pump switches.

How long should a pressure switch last?  I've got the 60psi flojet on my Omnitrolley that I've had since June last year.  I rarely get the trolley out of the van, just use it as a van mount and leave the pump running.  I stop the flow by disconnecting the pole hose from the microbore.  The pump tends to "cycle" a bit but it's still going strong.

Maybe I should get a spare, just in case?

I think its always handy to carry a spare pressure switch!

However, since i started this post, today i ordered a varistream 2 to alleviate my problem. I hope no more lost time. By the way ordered a spare 100psi pump with it!
