Whilst out and about doing some jobs in a certain area today, the local shop owner who i clean for (shop and house just down the road) told me that there was someone in the area trying to poach some of my work. Said it was a young lad with a piercing through his lip and looked a right scruffy git to match. I asked him how much he had quoted for the house and he said £7.50. I charge £12. Then he said that this lad said he would need £7.50 upfront before he did the work as an insurance payment. Obviously they weren't in the slightest bit interested.
I was working in the area all day and was wondering when i was going to get someone come out and tell me that they wanted to cancel because they'd found someone cheaper. But blow me down it never happened.
A bit later on in the day i was told by another of my customers that they also had a window cleaner knock on the door. She said that this guy was incredibly pushy and she didn't like the look of him either. Turns out he does a couple down the road and she's been past to have a look at his work and can see smears everywhere. This guy wanted to charge her £16 for hers and i charge £12.
Just thought i'd give myself a pat on the back for obviously doing something right when it comes to cleaning the windows and keeping the customers happy. If all my customers are as loyal as this then bring on the cowboys and the tax dodgers. ;D
Regards,
Lance

Lance, it could be a case of your customers think the Devil they know is better than the Devil they don't.
