In answer to your question, you can't get rid of them completley ( I assume you talking about house dust mites).
They are always present even in the cleanest freshest home to some degree.
Its not the mite itself that causes the problems with allergies etc but the droppings they leave behind.
A dehumidifier will assist in containing them at a level that is acceptable to most but the most susceptible by reducing humidity in the home you remove the conditions which enables growth.
You could contact your local Allergstop member who could supply you with room sprays and surface cleaners that will also reduce their affect.
Question; why so urgent?

it might be bed bugs, i dont know.
had a call from our lettings manager of some houses we are contracted to clean (students) and apparently there are bugs crawing up walls, in the carpet and bed in one bedroom of one house and they need to be sorted out ASAP.

You need to find out then!
These are almost certainly not bed bugs or dust mites (although they obviously are present as well) if they can be seen crawling up walls and in the carpets.
The room has an infestation of some kind that you need to investigate, it will then need a proper treatment of something like No Insekt or something similar along with carpet cleaning and mattress cleaning.I would suspect that other rooms are affected if not now then in the very near future.

We have a solution called siesta, that not only kills bed bugs and mites but also flame proofs the mattress at the same time.
