I've heard Timberlands are among the best.....are they good for window cleaning? Don't know.

Timberland or Caterpillar, i,m in Timberland at the minute and have had this pair for 2 winters already, cost alot to buy but like my old man used to tell thers only 2 things you need and thats a good bed and a good pair of boots ! because if you aint in one you,ll be in the other.
-
Now those are some very very wise words. I took them to heart, my parents always say...if you get married, you need a good bed, didn't hear the Boots one yet! ;D

I have a pair of Peter Storm boots, like a hiking boot but with a rubber toe. Cost £30 and have lasted over a year, nice and warm and dry in all weather. Also have a pair of Timberland boots, really good, dry, warm, comfy, look good but were £95.

I wear rigger(builder type) boots in the winter sheep skin lined water proof and steel toecapped, just pull em on and go ;D warm as toast,Gaz

we have just bought boots called muckers from a riding shop they are rubber up to the ankle and leather over ankle with velcro fastening they are totally water proof and can come with fur lining ideal for wfp.

I bought a pair of SCARPA hiking boots 5 years ago for £120 :o :o :o
That is £24 a year! Very cheap for excellent quality.
I now need a new pair of boots, although these will get me through this winter, just!
Totally waterproof to the ankles, warm room for thick socks and toes nicely spread.
Best boots I ever bought! Probably more than £120 now. The tread has worn low(really good grip + soft impact), but still completely waterproof. I love them.
Don't know if I can justify £150 this winter, but I might!
Check out the name SCARPA.
Remember: Buy cheap......buy twice....

How's about a pair of these Derri boots http://www.derriboots.com/

I wear any decent hiking boots provided all the uppers are made from gortex. I usually pay £50 - £70.
There's nothing worse than having wet feet on a freezing cold day.
