The taper on sections 4 + 3 is combined into one strengthened section of the usual length, and you discard the others from there to the tip.

Hi Shawn,
Wavie Davie (he has a super-Lite himself) is quite right. You could make a pole out of it, but it would end up being a lot shorter than you would think. The maximum you would get out of that pole and actually last a day would be 30ft. Although that is still quite a useful size.
We use a non standard first section which replaces section 4 + 5, the rest you throw away (we just don't buy them). The usual 'fishing' retail price on our 45ft pole is in the region of £900, this is down to using high quality carbon fibre and more of the expensive sections.

Slightly off topic, but can anyone tell me why fishermen sit on the bank with a bloody long pole fishing next to the opposite bank? Why not just go to the other side and fish with a short pole, or just fish with a short pole on the side you are sitting??

That's a very good question!

The fish spot the fisherman and swim to the other side and hide :)

Not very good but if you click twice on the 2 pics you may be able to see that its just a simple unger plastic cranked elbow.

fishermen have huge poles to reach the other bank to fish because they are not allowed on the other side! :D
-
Shawn, its the 75fter there is a pic of it standing up on one of the postings.
Idealrob, as a fisherman pole user you probably already use them. As you know they are incredibly light but you use them horizontally we use them vertically so there is very litle leverage and the poles used vertically are very strong. As you know most are designed to take an 18lb "hit" so putting on a 4-120z brush is well within their design capabilities. If you read some of the postings dates and my brief blog you will see they have lasted more than a day. My current 60-75fter is from February this year.

say i bought a 14m pole then i wanted to extend it could i buy extra sections and if so where from .. cos i missed a carbon fibre 14m one for 85.00 on ebay but i am did not know wether it could be extended

Hi Shawn,
Most of them can be extended with base sections, but these would need to be of the same make and exactly the same model as the one you purchased, these would be the most expensive sections unfortunately!.
A 14m pole would actually only reach you about 30ft once you had removed the fragile top sections.

so what number sections would that be.... ?
and can you not just buy base sections

If buying most makes you would need the No. 6 downwards. On our Super-Lites we use a replacement top section which goes on top of the No.6 and then downwards.
You can then buy the Extra base sections, but good ones cost about £60-£70 retail, so they soon add up in cost.
We also make an addition to each section and then treat the top joint, which prevents sections jamming together, which in practice can be very annoying if it happens to the pole.
