Title: Canvassing
Post by: macc on November 18, 2006, 08:56:59 am
Well, i've been saying it for ages now but i'm starting today. i've set my target of an extra £1000 by the end of March.

I dont want too much as i still want some spare time. Then i can fit in the fascia & soffit jobs & con roofs etc. They are good little earners & make a change.

Before i start canvassing i'm calling in quick to ok the design work the guy has come up with for the sign writing on my van.  ;D. Hopefully that will pull in some work but at the end of the day in my oppinion it looks more pro & people will know what i do & who i am.

Do you think you will have much success nearing Christmas? That's my big question, I wonder if most of the people will say no.  :)

I presonaly would not canvass in december because you might get people who say they want a regular clean but what they really want is clean windows just for christmas. Come january they will just cancell.

I'm waiting till january to start my big canvassing push.

if you canvass december just don't do the work till January. I can't see a massive percent of people thinking like that you may get a few but you always get a small percent of timewasters anyway, i would just of thought that maybe they might be looking after their pennys a bit more in December so it may be a little harder to pick up work but i may be wrong

you may get new customers in dec with xmas, coming up,so to incase their just using you as a one off charge them a 1st clean/inital premium ie a £10 house-charge £15 that way if they dont use you again at least you,ve charged them more-if they do stick with you its a brucey bonus and you have a good xmas.

Yep, she is. Problem is we dont get on as over the years she has done a lot of things i dont agree with.

There seems to be a lot of JW'S on here. I've done a bit of thinking & watching your posts, been given help. I have come to the conclusion over the year my thoughts & feelings about you as a group are wrong. I cant base my oppinion on what is obviously the bad apples in my family.

I'm glad i joined this forem. In short, i want to say sorry for any comments i've made to offend as ive come to realise my experiances in the family are not the norm.

I must be getting old.

Just on a side note, how would you go about posting flyers first and then canvassing? Would it really make that much of a difference?

What I do is just go canvassing, and the people not at home I leave a flyer.....good or not? Any tips for me? :)

Thanks

Hm, reason I'm saying this is I got back on a lady (saw she was in) canvassed there 3 months ago, opened up, and she said oooh yes! I was gonna call you, but I have been very busy with Holidays etc.

So, that rang a bell, I thought, if I went back the next day after I dropped the flyer, I maybe would have gotten her. But she told me she's only in on Mondays, I figure that could apply to alot of people and would be too much hassle.

I'd rather go canvassing, and posting flyers if people are not at home, people who really need a WC they will respond to the leaflet. (?)  :)

We'll see, got 3 new customers today, one that I went back on, neighbor wanted me as well and a lady called me :  72 quid. Not bad ;D
