hi everyone, we have a large showroom that we clean every morning mon-sat, the problem is we can only clean when the showroom is open,  at the moment we go in first thing in the morning, there are customers and staff walking about, no  body seems to take notice of the warning signs that we put in place, we use a numatic floor cleaner(scrubber drier) as soon as we have cleaned it someone has walked all over it and its dirty again, they have now asked us if its poss to go in in the evening before they finish, but as far as we can see its going to create the same problems ??? and it will also interfer with our evening work, any suggestions will be happily received, paul.

hello there
had the problem before.
these kind of jobs should be key-jobs so the work can be done when the place is empty.
firstly ask whether they will be happy for you to have a key/security fob/code etc. and if they don't object get your insurance upgraded.

if they have a security man on site you should suggest the cleaning to be done after the showroom closed and charge them more because of the unconvinient hours.

hi kathrine, unfortunatley they wont allow anyone in after hours, there is no security guard, i have suggested the same thing and it has to be cleaned 8.15am or before 6pm, this is a huge problem as there is always staff and customers walking around, paul.

Hi,
Are they complaining about the marks on the floor or only your experienced and "proud" eyes see it?
If they do complain than get a contract update and state in it the working conditions so it won't be the cleaner who gets the blame.
It should say what you intend to do, buffing,scrubbing etc. and also make sure you signpost it and if the staff at the showroom still can't bother about being careful around you then that's it.
Talk to manager or  to the person whom signed your contract so if there are complaints in the future you can back-up yourself and your staff.

Hi Paul,

you say you put up warning signs but people ignore them? In that case i would "if possible" tape off an area at a time then only remove it once the area is dry.

If you get complaint`s then you can argue the case that any marks are not you fault.

Ive got a couple of jobs like that, one of them is actually a car show room, again they did not want to give keys out. In the end we got round it because the door lock was just a pull shut, so now my cleaner arrives just before they close, everyone goes home leaving an empty building for him to clean when he is done he just sets the alarm and closes the door behind him.

Post office contracts do this also.  :D :( :) ;)
