Tried it haven't seen the results yet so hopefully its ok ;) ;D
Just scrubbed like i normally do then placed the brush head in the top left corner then started moving left to right down the pain as i would do with the brush head off when rinsing, hopefully its all good cause its a big hotel that i don't wanna lose. It was a damn site easier rinsing this way than lifting, lot less pain :)

i keep the brush at the top of the window and move left to right with brush on, making sure that a constant stream runs right to the bottom all way accross.this is after scrubbing of course.please correct me if i have understood the post wrong but i cant see the point of dragging the brush DOWN the glass too?

Well done steve, Im proud of you mate ;)
There is absoultly nothing wrong with rinsing brush on, infact thats the way wfp's are meant to be used its just some people are told bad habbits or sold the wrong equipment by there suppliers.
Keep it up mate, soon it will be standard procedure to you.
What brush did you use mate, tell me it wasnt a vikan :)

i see your point maybe i've got it wrong then, but thats how i done it anyway. if someone can correct us on what is the proven way i'd be grateful.
I'll propably be going back to redo them tomorrow then ain't it ::)

What brush did you use mate, tell me it wasnt a vikan :)
Of course it was although it was the new lighter one. i ain't using no moulting ionic pooh head! bloody things!! >:( ;D
-
i agree with propole, untill i came accross this forum 4 weeks ago i never realised that anyone rinsed with the brush off!!
i cant imagine doing doing this at 38ft (or any other height to be honest)
its always worked for me.
-
Lol steve, you will most probably have problems then if you used on of those red and green broom head contracptions.
I was using a fresh head today, it was heaven. It cuts into every corner and totally ripps apart spiders webs and nests and it has the advantage of rinsing brush on ;D
Each man to his own tho, diffrent strokes for diffrent folks ;)

did he get it wrong or is that the way you do it?? i'm not saying that wouldn't work just i've never tried it.

Hi macmac,
Im a little confused with your last post, I hardly ever lift my brush of to rinse after all, why put yourself through strain if theres no need to.
Steve used a vikan brush/broom head which is not made for cleaning windows, with vikans you will get mixed results (WHEN YOU RINSE BRUSH ON) most of the time bad because it simply wasnt made to be on the end of a wfp.
also macmac you know about the brush on matey, I cant understand some people, why strain yourself when theres no need. just to save on buying a brush head once a year instead of buying one twice a year ???
I have allways said this, even before being a w/c. GET THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR THE JOB ;)

i have always rinsed with brush on the glass, their is simply no need to risk injury or strain doing it any other way. i have tried every brush their is and always come back to vikan, you can rinse on the glass with a vikan whith no problems what so ever.

Hi rugby,
Im sure you can mate, obviously you have adapted you technique to suit you and your needs ;)
When you rinse do you have a more up and down side to side motion, rather than going straight side to side?
Also do you regulary clean your brush on the window?
How do you do that some will ask, theres a technique to that aswell, I clean my brush on frames with a special trick I taught myself. ;D ;D not much to it really ;)

a little of both,if a window requires a little extra rinseing then a slight up and down movement as well just to create a wave effect. as for cleaning your brush on the window ??? go on tell us

And mention which brush you prefer as well please pro pole

;DSorry mate, most people know what brush I use, an Ionics double trim.
The words of Mr Fogwill below,
"Let me start by clarifying one thing, the most popularly used is not necessary the best. A while ago there was a certain brush manufacturer that caught on to the fact that the reach and wash system and water fed poles in general were gaining popularity among window cleaners, and quite rightly got in on the act. They realised their was big business and started promoting their car washing brushes at trade shows etc, and offering good deals to water fed pole suppliers. They even made some changes to the brush to make them more water fed pole friendly, trouble is they forgot about two main factors that overwhelmingly effected the cleaning power of the brush. Firstly the density of the bristles, their brush is far too dense and this restricts the flow of dirty water passing through the bristles, and working its way down and off the glass. Secondly the bristles were splayed at the ends to make them softer for car paintwork, as glass is a hard surface this was not necessary for a window cleaning brush, it had a negative effect and trapped dirt particles, again restricting the easy passage of dirty water through the brush and down to the bottom of the glass. These two factors although not the only disadvantages makes the most widely used water fed pole brush a nightmare to use.
How did the average window cleaner not notice this? They were supplied with the brush from their supplier, they didn't know any better, after all if you pay good money for a window cleaning system you would expect to be supplied with the best equipment to do the job it was designed to do. Trouble is most of the water fed pole suppliers have never cleaned a window in their life, they picked up on a brush that was being heavily promoted, got a good deal and the rest is history. The window cleaner got round the defects on the brush by brushing the window and then lifting the brush off the glass to give it a final rinse, which is both time consuming and a much higher water consumption over the course of the day."

I do like the Ionics brushes but they do loose their shape very quick but i am still not confident enough to rinse with brush on the glass.
Hi Propole
when it comes to wfp seems you know your business if at any time possible mate is there any chance of you making a small clip to show us less confident wfp'ers how to rinse on.
As in your post above makes sense
cheers

I use both ionics and vikan on my domestic poles.
The older OTT brush doesnt lose shape i find but cant source any more as i think they are superior.
Tried rinsing on glass with all 3 of my domestic brushes, but still prefer to rinse off, i trust it for 100% double checking. Maybe rinsing on is quicker but with residential they want near perfect not just passable cleaning.
I work and always have to a very high standard, and believe at present this rinsing off double checks.
If anyone has a video as mentioned before PLEASE put it on here so we cdan review our techniques. I will of course try all my brushes rinsing on if somebody can do this. I will also be ordering one of Gazas brushes soon when my already splayed new ionics brush needs replacing, (3 months old).
PROPOLE maybe you can help. Also tou asked on another post where i was from, i put north herts, should have put Stevenage, sorry mate

well, i'm absolutely gobsmacked, i just cant believe what i'm reading, all these people rinsing brush off, how could you possibly get a better result than with brush on? you guys must be knackered by the days end, plus, what could be simpler. i have vikan brushes (sorry propole) they are 3 year old (came with kit) one is well worn and still perfect results brush on. :o
-
Must admit i use Vikan brushes and have only ever rinsed with the brush on when i have cleaned my own windows. They came up fine.
Haven't had the balls to leave brush on when cleaning customers windows though. Always rinsed with brush off and never had any complaints.
Don't feel tired at end of day if anything it gives you a bit of exercise and now after about 14 months wfp don't really notice.

I rinse with the brush on the glass and i use a vikan brush and get not problems what so ever.
Never lift off to rinse thats asking for an injury

why not leave brush on for customer windows?? what difference does it make?
i think i must be missing somthing here :)
-
Think it's because of posts i read on here back along when i 1st found the site. Think alot of people then were saying to take the brush off to rinse.
Suppose it's just a habit i have got into.
I think i was told or read somewhere recently that Vikan had changed the bristles on their new brushes. I have some of the new ones but can't really tell the difference.

i'd give it a go if i were you mate, maybe when you've got a bit of time on your hands just so you can wait till its dry and see for yourself, you may need a few practise goes to get used to a new method but i can't honestly see any reason why it shudnt work for you.

See ;D ;D ;D a few know ;)
Also to actuall use poles over 25-30ft you need to use a whole body technique which takes a while to master, its sort of like a ballroom dance step ;D ;D who cares what you look like tho if its saves one from injury then its worth it wouldnt you say.
For rinsing with poles over 30ft allways keep brush on the glass, move around I mean really sway and step back and forth for the scrub not moving your arms just letting your steps controll the motion of the pole. Then obviously start at the top with a little extra attention to see the jets wash right up to the top of the glass then with small up down jerks work you way back and forth a cross and down the glass by doing this action you should be stepping slightly left to rinse the right side and vise versa when you step left or right you slightly drop the pole the other direction. And making sure you follow the whole wave down.
You can only do the steps and body technique with brush on theres no way you can do it lifting off, the whole technique is the way your surrposed to use wfp anyone lifting of is at serious risk, there is no need to lift off at 18ft or even mini-pole 4ft work no need whatsoever!!!
To clean a brush at or on a window up to 40ft is simple, quite simply scrub hard on transome bars up and down, or the opening frame side to side then when all the bits come away just wash them down. remember providing your using a good brush, double trim and sufficeint flow the will be no actuall impurities in the brush just foreign bodies (not water solouable small bits of crap there already sterile because the have been rinsed) the technique above will completly eliminate and brush contamination BECAREFULL THERE IS A KNACK TO IT
Brett,
I would and mite put a little clip up if and when I get time and have someone with me to film the skill's ;)
riverside,
Im in Broxbourne mate, if you need any pointers and your in this neck of the woods give me a shout.

Side to side strokes....moving down the glass ?
just starting so not done many, but the high up ones (3rd).... i find it really uncomfortable going side to side... the pole flicks the brush on the glass and jumps...a foot meaning i have to start that again, same with the next stroke and the one after that...
i scrub round the edges a couple of times... then up and down left to right.... then rinse with brush off...
newbie to wfp so i await corrections ;)
