Title: Thompson's Directory
Post by: Roger Oakley on November 13, 2006, 12:28:30 pm
Any one advertise in the Thompson's directory or Thompson's website?
That time of year and getting endless calls blah blah blah, that I really should be in this etc.
If you do advertise has it worked? I have been in Yellow pages and on yell.com and for me they were a waste of money.
Thanks
Roger

Hiya,
My personal experiance with Thompson basically is that they are double the price and a total waste of revenue!!!!!!!!

Don't bother!!
Again my opinon, may be diferrent for others!!!

Thanks for thr replies everyone.
Jay
I am with Yellow pages, book and on-line, £1200 for the year and not really made any money from it.
Gleamservices
Are you in the Thompsons book or online? or both?

Being pressure washing only, Y/P don't have a dedicated section so I think that is the problem there. Thompsons do have this but have heard they are expensive. So not sure what would be best really.
I still think for me leaflets & word of mouth work best, but always trying to spread the R&A net a little further  ;)

Hi we are with both thompson and yellow pages, got a similar size add in each and had one 1 job come out of thompson worth about £300, had at least 10 calls from YP and only about £2500 worth of work in from them, but saying that 1 of the calls has turned into regular income for both my business and also my partners domestic cleaning business.

Hi,

I'm in Thompsons and so far only had the odd call. I think I will break even by the end of the year on the advert cost so not as good as they claim!

Best value advertising has been the sign writing on the van plus word of mouth.

Steve

watch out for the catogories in yellow pages,

I ended up under office cleaners (with 2 other adverts) instead of cleaning services (where everyone looks) GUTTED won`t make that mistake again :-\

watch out for the catogories in yellow pages,
That is the problem, I have found with Yellow pages, wrong catogory for what I do, and not an alternative.
