I have a three liner. Cost about £150 for 18 months or thereabouts.
I've had a fair number of enquiries but I don't even get as far as quoting on most of them. No fault of yellow pages but I live in a town where there are a huge amount of terraced houses without back access. Sprawling council estates which were crammed in to take the London overspill after WW2.
Of the enquiries, I currently only have two regular jobs from the ad. I've had a lot of enquiries for one off work. That's fine while I have gaps in my work anyway but will not be viable once those gaps are filled. I've done a few quotes on work that I've heard no more about as well. Trouble is that when someone looks in a directory, often they will be getting a number of quotes and going with the cheapest - even though that's not always the best policy.
I find that I do get a number of end of tenancy cleans from it (again - one off work).
The ad has probably paid for itself by now but I would like more regular work from it.

Ouch!
I paid £600 one year and got one job from it for £180 a month. I've had that job for 7 years so it easily paid for itself. Only 1 job came from it though, so it could have easily been a waste of money.
I agree with the above. Advertise on yell.com and the other internet directories. More and more people use the internet these days.

I had a £400 box ad last year and it was rubbish.
But did get one large commercial job from it so it paid for itself.
Done yell.com and that was rubbish
Done yell 118247 and didn't even get one call.
This year i booked the same ad in the yellow pages and then cancelled my ad a few weeks ago as they wrote to me saying that the way the list the adds have changed.
And as my business name begins with a number it would bee put me at the end of everyone so i told them to forget it.
I think they did me a favour really and saved me some money
