do i need to inform the tax office im registered self employed.

PDH, yes you need to inform the inland revenue that you are starting your own business.
If you want to be a LTD company you would have to check up at companies house to ensure the name you want use is not already being used.
If you are a sole trader you can generally use what ever name you want as their is plenty that have the same name
