Hi all,
just wondering how easy it is to fit a little pump to fill my backpack from a container in the van.
at the moment i will be quite happy to just pour it into my backpack, as i will only use it for hard to reach windows,
but could do with getting it sorted so its easier in the long run.
what do they call them, how much are they and are they easy to fit?
i think i remember someone saying they use them in caravans,
can anyone help please.
thanks.

Gary, 100 litres, ie 4 x 25 litre barrels will see you through a day.
Okay, the barrels aren't light, but they're not that heavy either; especially after you've filled the backpack for it's first fill.
Basically, what I'm saying is you'll only have a 'heavyish lift' four times in each working day. It's not like you're humping full barrels every twenty minutes throughout the day.
Just partly fill the backpack, enough to clean 6 to 10 windows and it's easy; it takes seconds to do.
Each subsequent fill is easy, obviously, since there's less water left in the barrel.
I'd suggest you start off keeping it as simple as possible, then after a month or two, if you still want to, then look at getting some sort of transfer pump.

Gary,
I use my Back pack ALL the time.
I have set it up on my trailer so as:
1. I don't have to lift it up to put it on
2. I can fill it without lifting the barrels.

The barrels (6x30ltr) are behind the BP
and I use a small Reich Caravan submersable pump (about £15 from our local caravan store) and a second hand wheelchair battery (from People First customer of mine).
I'll E-Mail you a copy of my write up about my BP setup

David, how many litres per min is the Reich pump ?
Could you use the power supply from the backpack to power the reich ?
-
Jeff,
about 12ltr/min
and yes you could use the backpack power, but a bit of a clat to get to it!!
Hang on.........I know where you're heading.............Take out a trolley with a barrel on it and the Riech pump powered from the Backpack?........theory??

Yes, The simple things in life :)
I also reverse turtle into my pack to put it on, I sit on the tailgate of the car.
Looking at your pic, try true 4ID /6mmOD microbore with the pack ?

Gary,
Just get a Reich Caravan submersable, 2-3 meters of !/2 hose, 2 crocodile clips for the wires and run it off your pump battery to fill the backpack insted of humping the barralls. While it's filling you can write out the bills or fill in your book or take a swig of coffee or tea from your flask or if you must! have a fAg!!
