Title: October Business
Post by: *paul_moss on October 28, 2006, 07:01:56 pm
Speaking to a few of the guy's around the country October has been good for some and poor for others compared to last year.
Personally my best month this year.
Just wondered how every one else found it.

Fibrefresh would be interested in your comments as your up the road from me ( I think in Wrwexham).

Probley the usual story the ones that have got of there ar$e and done something are doing great, but theres allways someone who cant quite work out why they aint getting no work ???

Usual answer "lazyness" theres work out there for all of us, you just gotta go and get it.

I've decided to not work sundays this year during the Xmas rush, but will be booking my first job for 8am

15 years in business and I don't get quiet weeks sounds arrogant but it's true.

I like Sundays off, I ususally work 7.30-8am starts finish about 6 ish sometimes go back out if it's a good customer or good money, depends on how I feel.

Justin same for me, Sept rubbish October was good and booking well into November.

Just picked up a good deal with a local estate agent that gets all their new clients to get their carpets cleaned so things are looking rosie at the mo.

Time to keep marketing is when you are busy as this will keep the working flowing in.

Cheers

looks like being one of those manic XMAS rushes, bookings coming in for December.

I say and mean XMAS bacause it has absolutly nothing to do with Christmas, really P me off the whole retail thing, but I'm just a a bad as am looking forward to the increased business, even taken a booking for the 27th aren't people Strange?

Had a rental to do last year on the 27 th. Got offered double to work the 24 th last year. Guess what .............. I did it  ;D ;D
Its all because they have friends n relatives coming and this is the only time they see them. The customers that booked the 24th last year had family coming on boxing day and had spent time gettin quotes of about half a dozen companys a week before xmas. They all were fully booked when they decided on who to use, including me, but I was obviously the only idiot to give up my xmas eve !!! Worth it though !  ;D ;D

I never like packing away my hoses when its dark, luckily I'm usually home before 4.

I'm thinking of fitting a big strip light in the back of the van in case it is dark.

it might sound sad but its the exact opposite ;)

we chose to work Sundays, we don't have to.

I chose to work weekends because I prefer to finish at 3ish during the  week
.
working weekend means I can go on 5 holidays a year.

its not sad, its the  freedom to chose :D :D

Work to Live not Live to Work, Dave liahore has it right works four long days a take 3 days off.

I really dont see the point of having your own business and working 7 days a week even if you finnish at 3 in the afternoon.

Family is far more important than money, speaking from experience.

Gave up my job because I had to travel all over the world but never saw my family. Whats the point  ???.

You cant take it with you.

Neil, i understand what youre saying but everyones lives are different. i have a young family (three year old son and four and half month old daughter) but due to a bitter ex and many hours in court i only get to have them one day a week! so i work my b*tt off to make sure i give them everything(within reason) and will give them the best possible start in life. to me work isnt a problem at all-i enjoy it and aside from a little leisure time with motor bike and mates then i would sooner work. always have and always will. thats just me ;) some people are happy to plod on i suppose.

cheers, Damian.

HI Damian

Get your point and would be the same if I did not have them around all the time. I am only 34 so see the need to be working.

I probably work just as hard as you do but try to get it into 4-5 days a week (Thats Just Cleaning Though) Marketing and General Office get done in the evenings.

Weekends are looked forward to as I am heavly involved with football.

Never plod along though as this business is going to make me my fortune.
