Title: Glass Gleam 3 problems
Post by: Central on September 25, 2003, 05:35:04 pm
I bought Glass Gleam 3 and have been using it for 2 months as I feel you need to give it a fair crack of the whip as Ive been using fairy liquid prior to this.

I don't find it to be any better than washing up liquid.

It states that you can but it onto a french window with an applicator - wash it down with a hose pipe and leave it to dry and it will dry smear free.  Ive tried this and it doesn't work.

Is it a gimmick, has any one had any problems or success with it?  Is there something Im doing wrong (I've tried between 3ml per gallon and over 5 ml per gallon but with the same results.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Hi Central,
If its anything like GG4 it takes a bit of getting used to and experimenting with amounts. Do you live in a soft water area as that is what GG3 is for ???

We live in quite a soft water area.  It just seems that it doesn't do anything very much and definately doesn't compare to washing up liquid.  Ive tried using the amount they tell you to use and have put more than double what they say to use as well and there really doesn't seem much difference.

How long have you been using it for ?

as said it does take time to get used to it as the slip is nothing like fairy, I added more than needed also. when you come back to the windows done with it you will see a difference...

who knows..LOL

But ive found it good for drying clear, not smeared like washing up detergents, when detailing.

Yeah it takes getting used too with technique - but its obviously your technique giving your problems not the detergent. If you rely on glide to clean a window rather than proper technique your guaranteed to have problems using it.

That being said im no expect at squeegeeing (excuse spelling?)

The windows look cleaner after use, its doesn't give frames that green algae look after a few months, and it doesn;t attract dirt as much so the window will stay cleaner for longer.

Im sure guys out there using the fairy and similar stuff do so because it dirties the windows more, so after a few days they are dirty again.

if you mix in the bucket I get a useless substance but if you mix in
a 1 litre bottle and apply direct to the applicator this seems to work
a treat hope this helps try it ED

I use GG4 never had a problem, It takes some getting use to as you dont need as much pressure on the squeegee, I use sorbo glide in with my mix and its fine.
