Title: Heat rod gunk

Just fitted the second heat rod in my inline heater.
The first one came supplied with a white gunky like paste that I had to cover the heat rod in before placing it inside the block.This one did not come with any of the stuff and when I place it in it is a bit loose.
Any of you guys no what this stuff is so I can go out and get some.

Probably just a silicone grease Paul. I would check with the manufacturer. If thats what it is you can get it at any plumbers merchants.

It'll be "Heat transfer compound", a zinc paste to aid the transfer of heat between the heat rod and the block.

CPU heat sink paste will almost certainly work in exactly the same way and is available from Maplin, PC world, your local PC store etc.

Roughly how much do you need? I may be able to dig some out and post it on.
