Just want to ask if anyone has uncovered any great Banking deals?
I ask as I am just about to pull the plug on my existing Bank - Alliance & Leicester and wondered what was happening out there in the financial guru world.
Thinking of Barclays:
Internet/Telephone banking
28p per cheque
55p per £100 cash
No other fees.

I bank with Abbey- free for life, saves swapping about every yr! although there are some limits. Internet banking facility aswell. I'm also currently with Barclays -don't do it!, as long as you never want a service they're okay. When you ask them for a loan etc. their rates are well over the odds. I have other family with business' and they won't touch Barclays either, a mate has just joined HSBC and found them good. Take a look at local branches, i used to bank with Natwest and found them terrible for deposits, too long a queue and few staff, so called business managers were absolutely usless (young kids) with no idea! ::)

Don,t know the reasons your leaving all + leis., but they have a account with no charges providing you lodge 1000 per mounth. cheques or cash
I only started with them so am I missing something

Hi trevor
I banwith both a&l as they dont charge for cheques and barclays for commercial the fact is they are all as bad all want you to make some error to send you a £30.00 letter
a&l seem to be best deal at the moment for banking large amounts of cheques little service given by any bank till your turnover exceed £500,00.00 the you get a better business manager than us lowly plebs but as they all give the same service none havce to change
regards grant

I am with the HSBC. I don't have a business account as such. I just opened a second account that I use exclusively for business use. I have been doing this for the last 14 years, and never pay for cheques being cashed. Dai

johnboyfree, can I ask how you find the Co-op internet banking these days?
I used to be with them, but when they were changing to the Acumen version there were so many glitches and complaints they had to put the full changeover back. I just got so hacked off with some of the things they were doing - like having to scroll sideways to see a full screen, and you can't scroll sideways with a scrolling mouse. Then I couldn't access the site without having to change some of my settings every time, blah blah. Before that I had no complaints, but after all the grief I went to a different bank.
I'm an FSB member but not really looking at going back, just curious.

Im also with the FSB, as you say well worth the 100 quid per year, you get alot of piece of mind with all the services you get with them, as well as the free banking.

The A&L were great to start with, but over the years they have increased the charges and based on our turnover it is far from competitive.
I know they offer 2 years free banking but that wasn't around when I was with them. The trouble is bank are great at attracting new customers but they seem very slack in keeping hold of them.

Can you tell me how the internet banking is these days. Were you a customer during the transition period or are you a recent joiner. How does it compare for ease of use? Are the problems I mentioned still there, or did they finally listen to their customers.
