Hi peeps,
Have been carpet cleaning 5 years and thought I was a bit of a pro but wanted to see if anyone can help us with a pain in the arse pub carpet.
Basically we have the cleaning contract for a pub, we do all the general cleaning on a daily basis, but go in once a month to clean the carpets. Originally it was every other month but it gets so bad its now monthly.
The pub is a quiet place in the day with adult drinkers but at night it get trashed buy students and youbgsters. After cleaning the carpet it looks great but within a few days the hoover starts sticking to the carpet and it looks grubby again.
We use pre spray gold as a pre spray and then Heat wave to extract. I was wondering would the results last longer if we use Ultra Pac still but extract with Fabric Fibre Rinse? Any other suggestions would be great. Our machine is a Pro Chem Blazer XL.
Also we use a henry hoover but is there a more industrial type hoover anyone has used that may help[ get better results??
Thanks
Dave

You could try a small inconspicous test area with Ultrapac, or you could try Multi-Pro or Power Burst (power burst is not suitable for wool or woll mix carpet)
A Sebo might be a more effective vac

Not quite sure what you mean when you say try t in an area? I have cleaned it loads of times before I want a longer lasting result.

Definately invest in a Sebo vacuum cleaner. We do the same sort of thing in a few Plymouth pubs and clubs and have the same problem with the carpet. The problem is that it only takes afew beers to be spilled and the carpets are sticky again, and a henry gets dirty on the bottom and sticks like a buggar. A Sebo with automatic height adjuster glides over it lovely and saves the back ache ;)
Hope that helps a bit.

Sorry if I have confused you but Ultrapac Retnovate is a heavy duty industrial cleaner and I assumed as you were asking that you had not tried it already. It is advised on the product instructions to pre test before use. This will ensure that you do not damage the carpet

Dave, I am not familiar with your cleaning solutions , maybe if you changed to something where you could use a clean water rinse it might make a difference. I am just thinking that perhaps you may be leaving the carpets in a high PH condition and leaving a residue which is causing rapid re-soiling. Can you do a PH reading next time just to see what state you are leaving them in.

we used to do a nightclub carpet which had the same problem. we used to clean it with enzyme pre spray and extract with crystal green (both prochem). we did the carpet every 2 months and like you it eventually got sticky quickly. we changed extraction chemical to fibre and fabric rinse and the carpet definatly lasted better between cleans. you could also try prochems new pure clean powder that is not meant to leave any residue.

Take a look at www.argoco.com
You might find it hard to accept, but using their flat mop method with Argosheen instead of vacuuming will almost certainly eliminate your problem
The product is excellent and we used it for years, importing from the US
good luck

Dave. shouldnt you be saying the carpet needs cleaning more regularly!?-more work ;D if its gettin trashed every night by students-rodents then it should need a maintainence program? ::) regular work?

Dave
Just out of interest you say you've been in the game for 5yrs but your website says that your a new company - did you previously own a company, or were you employed as a techy?

CVC,
You say that you have a problem with sticky pub carpets after a few weeks etc. We allways roto with a pad after the HWE this will remove a lot of the residue that is left on the top of the pile.
Next time you HWE the carpet rub a clean cloth over the pile of the carpet anywhere, you will still get a sticky gluk on it. However if you roto it afterwards with a pad this will remove a lot of the remaining surface mess. Its the remaining surface mess that is helping towards the rapid resoiling.
You can never get it all off but this certainly helps.
Hope this does.

Thanks for the ideas, gonna clean it again next week, will let you know what works.
I think a sebo purchase is in arder. We have wanted one for a while but they are pricey but now is the time.
I cant clean the pub more regularly as the brewery wont release more funds, it the same situation as most places, we try to advise what they need but they just cut the price down and as a result dont pay enough to maintain all areas properly.
I was a technician for another company but felt after a few years that I was doing enough of the work and had enough experience to do it myself. I set up with my friend, we have know each other since we were kids and it working well, 2 years old in 2 weeks.

Hi,
Try Chemspec EnzAll prespray and extract with plain hot water. No residue will be left to get sticky.

I really don't think a new vacuum cleaner will make the slightest difference, but some of the suggestions might help, provided that you're employing a good wand technique.
Most c/c's are either 'scrubbers' or 'speed merchants' and few actually allow the wand and product to do the job.
If the job is difficult, increase your overlap and slow down the wand action.
In some cases. you will get the best results, from slightly lifting as you pull back, this increases the air flow and provided you have enough power, are using good products and working against the pile, you will get the best possible resuts.
