To be classed as a van they have to have a payload in excess of a tonne, (1000kgs).

I have the Ford Ranger Double Cab thunder, and because its classed as a van and not a car it come with income tax advantages. This year the taxable gain against your wages is only £500, next year its gona be £2000 if you use it for private use (because Mr Brown is short of cash) but that’s still cheap motoring.

All of the pickups are more expensive to run than a van, but they are a lot nicer to drive.

Farmers would,nt bother with a warrior its to posh for them, they would just go for the basic 4 life model and tow an Ifor Williams trailor round with it.

Posh?
It's a pickup!

Besides farmers wouldn't buy common old £72,000 Range Rovers would they? ::)

I've a mate who is an arbourist or how ever it's spelt. He cuts down trees and tends to them when they get poorly.

He fills it up with logs and the like and 2 years on, his 4wd although seriously dented and battered still works fine. He reckons it's the best work vehicle he's ever had in over 20 years of cutting up trees.

A few weeks ago he stopped by and he had actually parked it half on the kerb, 12" high, with maybe half a ton of logs in the back and when he left he just drove off not worrying about the drop from the grass verge to the road.

It may not sound much but my mate treats transport as a means to do his job. I've never known him to have a vehicle longer than 6 months before by which time they are wrecked.

I'm not sure if he has an L200 but it's an L something.

Hi Gary

We,ve got an l200 but just social vehicle, excellent but, would not use as van.

Parking can be a nightmare, especialy if work in busy streets you would not fit in normal space, leaving you to walk farther to get to a job.

Plus the tax encentive is also changing.

Next year he is also going to try tax you on vans for people who take them home, not sure of exact details, but, know business,s with fleets of vans where workers use them outside work are going to be taxed. MAD.

Try looking at the crewcab vans, most do them then check weght carrying capacity, vw transporter is most popular but very expensive, nearly £20.000 Vivaro about £12.000 to £14.000 new.

Ive found nearly new about £10.000 05 reg.

Mitsuibishi dont do a l200 V8, the nearest one you,ll get to it in this country is an l200 Triton and thats a 3 litre V6.

I used to have a 700litre tank on the back and used it as a van mount but it used to do my head in dragging hose everywhere so i took it out and put it in my garage.
I now just use my backpack and keep about 2 to 300 litres in barrels on the back and the rest of my bits and pieces.

so it could fit in a 700 litre tank? thats good isn't it. whats the payload on them then?

do like the idea of the double cab and that it can be used more like a car when not being used for wc

The payload on that model is 1180kg and this includes the fuel driver and any other passengers.
It makes life easy for filling the backpack aswell as you dont have to pick a barrell up you just tip it on the tailgate and fill up in about 10 seconds.

Steve, its a 2.8 diesel and with the new D4D engine in it i average about 34 to the gallon which is good especially with ladders on and the mrs Warrior is way behind averageing about 24.
This is the 3rd Toyota ive had and by far the best yet.
