Title: Backpack Advice
Post by: Pole2pole on October 16, 2006, 09:26:17 pm
Hi all. I'm just about to start life with my new(2nd) backpack. The reason the original one has ceased living is because every time i filled up i tended to crash it onto the ground(which  ultimately led to too many cracks in the base). I kept making a conscious effort not to, but on a day to day basis, old habits were dying hard.
Anyways, has anyone experienced similar probs, if so, how did you overcome them. Not the most exciting topic, i know, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers, Dino

On a more serious note,a friend of mine used to do the same,so he taped some foam to the base with duct tape and double sided tape about 4 inch thick, when he drops it now it bounces. ::)

Dino , ive just started using my second one aswell, the first one lasted me about six months and developed a small crease in the one corner and eventually a leak, this was caused by the way i was carrying it and always putting it down on the same corner.
On the new one i have super glued some sponge on the end that gets put down first, but its one of those things you only come across when your using it, so hopefully the old sponge will do the job.

Mines set up on a rack at the back of my trailer.  I don't have to lift it up at all

No Ron', thats how I put it on - from the rack - it's at back height so you don't have to lift it up and I use a pmp to fill it whilst its on the mounting.

Mind you, did forget to strap it on once - had to fit a new tank!!

Ronaldo,

Did the Mix and Fix not work?  Did you put a lump of the stuff on the inside and the outside of the leak?

My backpack is still going strong after loads of abuse and I used it constantly for 13 months.  I've got a spare one though; just in case.

In our B and Q, it's in the 'glue section'.

I put a lump of it on the inside and lump of it on the outside.  The outside 'lump' has rubbed off, but the inside works great.

It sets hard even under water, so putting water in your backpack won't degrade its effectiveness.

Good luck.

Jeff,

The first pic is the back of the trailer and the BP is mounted with the harniess facing out so as I canput it on easily.

The wooden platform is simply a way of bolting the black metal frame ( an old trolly from a Numatic Vacuum, when I used to sweep chimneys!) and it raises the BP up a bit (still could be abit more for me!)

I think I'm correct in saying that the main body of the Sureflow Back Back is available separately.

I cracked my BP.  Didn't strap it on the trailer! ??? ::) :P >:( :( :'(

Anyway it was 4.30pm and I phoned Mike at CLEANTECH and he got a new tank out overnight arrived 10.00 next morning - cost me £65 I think?.
However, to get going again the next morning I did use the MILLIPUT.  Fixed it a treat!!
