does anyone know of a way of removing cement-loads of it off the glass panes
-
sue the buggers who put It on! ;D
-
maybe a watered down brick acid.Be careful though, its strong stuff.
-
really wet the pane with soapy water and then use a brand new scraper blade to remove it but tell the client that any scratches are not to blame by yourself or ask the bricklayers to do it!
-
Get the customer to sign a waiver before you touch it
-
if they are large lumps,i wouldnt suggest scraping. You need to break it down and weaken it first.

Sandy
Use neat petrol on a rag, wipe over and it disolves the cement.Use it all the time on new builds, costs a lot but works a treat

Dougster do you not find that petrol will ruin the rubber seals around the glass
-
cement gets harder over the course of 100 years (no joke) then it starts to deteriate even if this is very slow. Tell the customer that you will remove it when it starts to deteriate (if that is how you spell it) but dont tell em how long. lol

I agree with the new scappr and soapy water .

petrol does not have any effect on rubber seals, just imagine how many rubber seals you have that petrol passes through in your engine.
Anyway,im not saying put lots of petrol on the window, just put some on a rag and rub onto the glass and just wash of as normal with fairy and water, or your trad method
trust me not had any complaints as yet

use limo acid very strong but very good, water it down and put in a spray bottle.you can get it from any cleaning supplies. If you dont use it be prepared for all the hair line scatches or worse!!

im not sure if petrol is the same as diesel, but i know deisel can damage rubber.
We have gotten diesel on your rubber bungs on our Jet washer, and they have needed replacing due to corrosion. But i suppose its not like you would be using diesel on the windows every time you clean them

where do you get limo acid from? can't seem to find it?
