In my 6 years of cleaning carpets, just came across the most disgusting house yet !
Client : middle aged, female alcoholic with major problems.
Had to clean living room carpet which was strewn with rubbish, human excrement, urine, rat droppings and god only knows what else !! And the smell...jeeeessuusss
Call me a fool, but I did decided to give it a go ( gave her a vastly inflated price and she agreed to my surprise ).
Just got in and had a much needed shower !!
Anybody else came across worse ??????????

Got called to a womans house to do the bedroom and h/s/l,
I got as far as the porch and turned back mate. Just ain't got the stomach for really bad Poo!! :o

Nothing quite that bad,but a lot of our work is within the rental sector and most people seem to live like pigs these days, the younger ones are the worst,I blame the parents.
Have to say I would have walked away from that job m8,don't want that stuff in my machine.

Did a house once that was very clean. BUT the tenants were highly addicted to "weed" and the place was cooking proper! They had all the local afro mafia round and were all at it! Jees it really hummed and i had a massive headache all the while cleaning. The van stunk bad on the way home and i had a turtles head returning home in case i got a tug from the law! ;D

Agree with John, wouldn't want all that crap in my nice new TM and hose pipes.
Leave all that kind of work for the £45 a house crowd!

Walked away from one Yesterday and woman wont stop calling me.
Husband was home got their and found dog poo all over the carpet, Cheeky s.d said he would not clear it up because he new i was coming. Told him that we are not here to clear up that and would not be doing the job.
Carpets looked like they have never seen a vacuum and probably would have walked for that alone. Wife has been leaving messages all day having a go at me for not cleaning the carpets.
Rang her back in the end and told her that it was to bad to clean and would be impossible to get the stains out. I did not want to tell her that she was a pig and should clean her house up as I dont think it is they way to go.

Cleaned a house last week where the tennant had left their cats in the house for two weeks alone while they moved into their new house, cat litter every where, not only thta these were the most untidy people i have ever met the carpets were cream but you inituially could not tell, untill cleaned of course.
Explained due to state the result could not be guaranteed. I would love to have seen the look on the landlords face as they handed him the keys to his trashed house lots of lovely art work on walls where kids had drawn!

This is one off the reasons i try to go to every house to see the job,if i cant go to the house i tell the customer that i wll survey and quote before cleaning and no guarantee,

And people wonder why it is that I pick and chose who I work for. Best, Dave.

You are right, Could not get to the job to quote before I clean because I was fully booked and was out quoting in the evening. told custy that I could get to her next week to quote but she wanted cleaning in 2 days.
Also job was over 20 miles away so gave her idea over the phone. Gave low end and high end price but it was just disgusting when i got their.
Does not happen often but some people are just pigs,
In the end had a nice drive out to the country. Glad i'm busy at the moment, made the descision to walk much easier.

I once went to one where an alchoholic lived.
I was warned by his niece that it was bad inside.....and it was. The carpet was used as an ashtray and the place stunk, it was a hell hole.
I looked at the kitchen to where I would get water from and it was crawling.
I said to her, you can understand why I could not work in here and she agreed.
I noticed that new windows had been fitted and they had not been finished inside, the expanding foam was visible and the plaster was unfinished.
She told me that the window fitters would not work inside the house :o

i think in this game we come accross a side we hardly see or know about. but if you look at the people who live like this on the whole they need some sort of help and support. it can be distressing to see people like this. Unfortunately most of them refuse help and in some cases the local council do not give a hoot.
-
Peter you are right but most of the ones I come across in Camberley area are rich but just slobs.
People that need help I am happy to go that extra mile but the rich and lazy not so.
-
agree with u there niel ,if they need help u dont mind giving that little extra.
but some people look down on cleaners just because we are CLEANERS,if they dont need help and look down on me the price some how goes up (dont no what happens when i go to say the price £20-30 gets added on)

why did you not phone me back i took machine off ebay as you nsaid you were interested and you even phoned extractor to see if i was genuine ?

Here's one I did yesterday, intially gave him a price over the phone for this but ended up nearly double when I got there.
House was above a restaurant for the workers so all the black is years of grease and dirt walked in.
Health inspectors told him get it replaced or cleaned and obviously he settled for the latter because he couldn't afford to replace it, so he said.
Still he seemed really pleased despite the paint stains that were everywhere which I didn't even attempt to remove.
He also asked me to price up his house next door and with the 50" plama screen and nice furniture he had I could see why he couldn't afford to replace the carpet next door.
But I certainly earnt my money, aching all over today.

Paul what chemical did you use?Looks mighty impressive 8)

Tried a few Steve.
Ashbys supreme prespray and Prochem's Prespray Gold but neither had much affect on it.
So I tried One step microsplitters with a lot of agitation, supreme anti-grease and another fine mist of one step with a lot more agitation, also had to scrub in citrus gel in the worst parts as it was glued on, then extraction with full heat, still having to agitate as I went along. Hence the aching.

I did a really dirty carpet for a lady last year and i mean really dirty.
single mum 3 kids and loads of pets and no cleaning...cats litter tray overflowing etc..i even wretched at one point the smell was so bad! anyway the carpet came up fantastic but as i was nearly finished one of the kids (who incidently were allowed to do what they wanted including climb on my ninja without the mum saying anything!) shouted "im having a s**T!" and sure enough when i turned around he was as good as his word and having one in the corner on the newly cleaned carpet!!! (he was about 4) She called me back to do it again this year because it came up so nice. I just couldnt face it.
