It's an over rated pastime Dave, your better off with a beer ::)

Getting back on topic, why wasnt there an option labelled "revolutionary new biodegradable eco friendly named after a car chemicals"?
-
Crikey :P
-

Andy-that would surely imprezz-a many custys mate! ;D
-
Why call it after a car? I thought a planit would sound better.
Lets face it, with all the hype they are ment to be out of this world.
-
Dave, what ya reckon to PLUTO-POWER!!? That way people can assosciate the oaf from popeye? ;)
-
Ah, minor hitch there, Pluto is no longer regarded as a planet, they have given it along with some more lumps of rock floating around in space a new name "Plutoids", I thank you 8)
-
Don't you just love a smart arse ;D
What ever we wish to call them they will be around for a long time to come, with current legislations and chemical companies pushing the barriers of cleaning technology there will be more products of this kind on the horizon.
Though I participate in the mirth of micro Splitters I do use them on many jobs, unlike many I have not banished them to the drain yet.
As many will know, I am a member of the Alleg-Stop network and will use these products when called for like conventional chemicals they still have their place when the job calls for them.
If I was asked to choose between detergent or none detergent cleaning agents I’m afraid I’d have to say both
-
Andya-testin ya! Uranus!-gets to the BOTTOM of any stain! What ya reck?
-
Damian, I can see it now, I'm in a customers house and she say's I have a coffee stain here over by the settee. Quick as a flash I say " No problem Madam I have Nicks Uranus here that will shift it".
-
Hi all,
Andy: Why are you so against m/s?
Or is it just THAT company's marketing strategies you are against?
I for one use m/s daily depending on job and appreciate their use. S******** offer good quaity products (in my opinion) and I'm not a member of any network associated with them.
Give it a try, you might like the results, know I do!
All the best,
Jason.
-
Funnily enough thats what i call the bucket boy ;D
-
URANUS, the eco friendly crap and crud encapsulation system, for customers who want to see the bottom of their piles truly agitated!
Manufactured from only the finest natural ingredients that are harvested from sustainable sources by the Fukawee tribe in a distant land never before captured on film by David Attenborough, this truly unique product will encapsulate your mind as well as the crap on your carpet, simply spray it on and stand by the window and view the world change around you, marvel at the technicolour rainbows forming on the skyline, watch the environment change before your very eyes, gone is the concrete jungle, replaced by natural beauty all around, this product is the result of years of research, why kill the whales with other cleaning products when you could improve every ones surroundings.
*Free "I saved the ice caps" t shirt with every purchase, if it doesn't fit then use it as a polishing rag for your 7.2 litre 4x4

I see your still smokin weed Andy ;D
I took see the world like that after a Spliff.
And the wife looks better too.
-
Hi Andy,
Funny, however not answering the question!
Is it just s******** or all m/s suppliers?
Just curious......
From a 50/50 m/s /detergent user depending on situation!
I've never known anyone with so much hate towards a product!
All the best,
Jason.
-
Hi Jason, I'm not against ms (I do occasionally use them)and I have nothing whatsoever against salutations marketing, good luck to them, like every business they try to reach out to potential customers, my main gripe at the time was the same old faces popping up with I've used schnitzer power gti and its brill, all other chems are crap and all the rest of it, complete b*ll*cks, when the new holy water is superseded in 12 months time it will all happen again and out of the woodwork they will crawl, shouting "a miracle has happened in Cornwall"
-
I see your still smokin weed Andy

No comment ;D
-
Andy,
Thanks for the reply!
Just think your funny comments deem to shadow the usefull effects of a genuinely good product whoever the supplier is! I've used m/s products from all the major suppliers and they all seem to do the same. However s******** do offer a good product at a good price. I know you're near to me and if you'd like to meet up I'd gladly give you some samples to try or come along for a lesson in the art of m/s cleaning ;D.
All the best my friend,
Jason.
-
Cheers Jason but I can give the ms training a miss, I use it from time to time on clean carpets, damn, I even brought some once :-[
I reckon there should be enough cc's on here from Norfolk that we could all meet up for a beer at a central point some time, we could even have a friendly debate about chems ;D Andy
-
Hi Jason, Add me to your 'Micro Spitter' hate list.
Lets get one thing straight here, if a chemical requires as much agitation and detail of use to get maximum results are they really worth bothering with in the first place.
If you spray plain water down onto a carpet and agitate 3 bells of s**t out, the same as you do with micro spliters, I can honestly say and I would quite happily put my house up on this bet, that the results would be to exactly the same standard of clean.
So in a nutshell - Micro Splitters are in theory and precise the same as good old ducks wine...Water, which should produce a fairly clean carpet or piece of upholstery but no where near a standard of clean expected of a professional.
If you value your customers and want to offer a clean that supasses any other method or cleaning agent, stick to HWE be it truck mount or portable with traditional in-tank detergent served at super high temperatures when appropriate. Your business in time will flourish.
On the other hand you could ar** about with low moisture, pad this pad that, rotary this rotary that, dry fusion here dry fusion there........ all in all your moving away from the need to wet clean and slowly burying your business in the process.

Matt, can I sell you some ms I've got kicking around in the garage? ;D
-
Andy I can see were your coming from but surely folks can see through it by now.
My wife shops at Sainsbury’s, has done for a while, she once tried Morrisons because she was told things were cheaper. That they are but they never had the product range and guess what, she’s back to Sainsbury’s were she feels comfortable.
At the end of the day if you find a product that works for you and your clients are happy with it, why change. This debate can be said about the tools we use CFR’s over Drymasters even down to accounting packages that add up our earnings and expenditure the list is endless. What suite one will not suit another, like you Andy I love a good debate but when the same people come on here and start pushing products down our throats then like you I get a little py.
-
Hi Andy,
The friendly beer sounds like a great idea!
I'd enjoy that no end, so would some others I'm sure!!!
As for m/s, use if you want, dont if you dislike!
Me, you and others will decide ourselves!
Hi Matt,
Everybodys situation will differ from one customer to the next, One suite I clean will work with m/s another will not. Depends on fabric etc the same as detergent use.
Not saying detergents are past their sell-by but I'm more than happy with m/s 90 percent of the time and so are my custys!
Everyone is different and expects different results!
Kind regards,
Jason.
-
Matt, can I sell you some ms I've got kicking around in the garage? ;D
No thanks, I've got an outside tap, cheers andy.
With the bit you have left you could... Wash your car with it, water the lawn or flowers, have a bath in it, use it with your drinks hot or cold, use it on a camping holiday as fresh water or just tip it down your nearest drain like the rest have done.

ive got a new one for u its called hot water n steam works a treat ! well it did the other day when i forgot to put chems in and it came up a treat makes u wonder dont it !

be interesting to try. I'd also wondered about using automatic washing powder to see what the results are like..
-
lol ihav trey them and they worked to me no diff than our stuff if u read the back of a box then the stuff we use it is made up of the same stuff
lol
SO ITS ALL JUST STUFF ;D
-
I wanted to be a porn star but phoned the wrong number and ended up on a 2 day carpet cleaning course in Leicester :'(
Porn star, carpet cleaner - same thing?
Quick in & out and you're done. ;D
-
i have used oxi-brite, does work but wouldnt rely on it, and would only use on white/cream carpets with no pattern.
i usually pre-spray with m/s then agitate if dirt/stains are all broken up the rinse with water, if not rinse with detergent solution usually fibresafe gold from prochem at nice high temp, works well for me.
so i guess i'm saying both as well.
ps. i'm also in norfolk ;D
-
i think Gary meant oxi-clean the stuff for cloths washing, works a treat on red wine!! come on we all tried it havent we! :-X
dont use on wool though.
seriously it does remove red wine better than red x
-
years ago as i was intrigued if washing powder would work so tried it on my own stair carpet-80/20 twist and it came up lovely ;D would never risk it on a custys carpet tho ;)
-
Damian,
Washing powders will work but are obviously designed for washing machines.
Main differences would be they contain enzymes and bleaches.
They may also be too foamy and difficult to rinse.
I would agree though that their technology is the basis for CC products and if MS or whatever else is being hyped actually was a true breakthrough, then Persil would be using it ;)
Cheers
Doug

Andy, you make me laugh!
I have to agree to a point though, all this Green talk is a way for people to make money, especially the Government!

Just received phone call from a customer whose carpets I cleaned yesterday, whose cat had been poorly and had to be put down.As you can imagine cat wee and sick all over the place, she rang to thank me as the carpet looks even better today than it did yesterday. So the question is does nemesis continue to work after we pack up and go home?
How many other chemicals continue to work after we go?
-
none of them should.
considering we are talking about pre-sprays so these should be rinsed out, so how can they continue to work?
all this 'continues to work on stains even after you leave' can't be right,
Mike
-
ok. so what would you non m/s guys recommend??
i am geuinely interested in anything that makes my job easier.
some people like the fact that you can offer an environmentally healthy process but 60% of them couldnt care less and the other 40% care more about how clean their carpets are gonna be than how environmentally friendly i am
-
There's a product that's been around since the 1940's which continues to work, as long as it's wet.
The manufacturer also invented bonnet mopping and o/p cleaning.
I trialled the product some years ago and found it to be excellent, but it was a pain to have to keep importing from the States.
Robbie
It's called Argosheen and it really works........OOPS, forgot, other people read this board
-
i used to import Argosheen ( still import their bonnets) it was a good Bonneting chemical but like you say expensive to import.
I always wondered why they did'nt get an agent in the UK
Mike
-
I enquired about distribution, but they were'nt really interested
