Dont worry mate , one of my customers cancelled me 2 months ago , guess what , 1 month ago he called me back again as its not all that in his opinion .
I reckon its geared more to the commercial market , thats where the hardship for us will be in my opinion .

 Get well soon !

probably 25/30% of our customers have pilkington self cleaning glass - it needs hours of strong sunshine and a downpour of rain in order for it to work - the chances of the 2 happening in that order with no event in between (night) is very remote, plus it doesn't get rid of spiders, cobwebs etc etc so I'm not going to be overly concerned - just be careful you don't damage the film over the glass when cleaning it though!!

We do a huge place on a very busy road near an even busier round about. The owners had spent a bomb having every window, etc, replaced with Pilkington glass on the basis of what the salesman told them.

The owner is currently taking Pilkington to court ref the Trade Descriptions Act and Sale of Goods Act.

When we did the windows for the first time earlier this year, they were so filthy that we used a jet wash for the first clean. Around the side of the house, which faces East and gets virtually no rain, the windows were thick with black grime.

We also do quite a few other places and as per the above postings, I don't think there is much to worry about from self cleaning glass.

Will this go to court, Ross?

I doubt it.  We should monitor it if it does.

some self cleaning glass requires that you wash it initially with a vinegar water solution in order to activate it, it still doesnt work but that will be the first question the manufacturer will ask and when the window cleaner says he used his usual solution the will try to pass the blame to him for it not working, I have had this happen a few times to me but we always read and comply with the manufacturers instructions on the initial clean of the glass so they got no where
