Rainbow Cleaning, based in Camberwell, South London, has, been praised for its work carried out as part of a two part documentary called 'How to beat your kids asthama' as part of the Dispatches series of documentaries, in April.
Filming for the television production company tok place in November 05 and consisted of deep cleaning and steaming of soft furnishings in 12 homes in and around North London for the parents of children who suffered from acute asthama.
The programme, shown on Channel4 focused on the effects of varios allergens and in particular, the house dust mites ability to excacerabte the childrens symptons. What was proven by doctors and health care professionals, was, that by removing al carpets and replacing these with laminated floors, removing curtains and replacing these with blinds and, keeping to a strict cleaning regime, the symptons the children exhibeted could be greatly reduced.
Richard Lee, sales director for Rainbow Cleaning, said "We were invited in to specifically clean the homes of these children, and in particular to remove the dust particules and potentially hazerdous airbourne spores produced by mould and of course the dust mite. As a long term personal sufferer of asthama myself, this was an opportunity to prove, fisrt hand, what actual benifits could be achieved for these children by introducing a strict cleaning regime, I am proud to say that the first night the children slept in there new bedrooms they showed significant signs of immprovment in their syptoms"
END OF PASSAGE.
Well Mr Lee , I prefer to take more notice of trials undertaken , over a longer period, and proberbly more qualified than you ;D as shown below.
Peraps as a long term sufferer yourself, and a director of a cleaning company you should have yoyr furnishings cleaned more often, :D or have you only just discovered the benifits ;)
Oh while I am on the subject, I prefer my furnishings Fried, not Steamed ;D ;D
Geoff.
ps. think i might just mail Mr lee and correct him a little, oh and channel 4 ;D

I'm of the opinion that aerosols aggravate asthma (Well, they aggravate my asthma anyway!)
With an increase in polished surfaces comes an increase in the use of cleaning chemicals, especially aerosols.
The most anyone does to a carpet is give it a vacuum, a hard floor gets polished with all sorts of stuff.

Thanks Geoff
Missed that on page 3 probably due to water marking (BRIEFS). The picture to the right ‘ease of cleaning’ think one might need a frogman’s outfit to clean their windows.
Lee and Doctors/healthcare professionals know best (Florence Nightingale there was one other cant remember her name but put on the back burner and had a bigger lamp)
Carpets won’t die away due to TV propaganda, if it was soap probably!

I spoke to Richard yesterday,
he assures me that he had no idea that laminates were less than healthy :D but generaly went along with the general opinion, "I guess from pressure from tv comp" my words not his :-\
what idid discover they are in fact a cleaning company, general cleaning , office cleaning etc etc, but were very limited in their carpet cleaning side. strange then, that tv makers appear to have not quite got it right ;)
Another fact i was told. that his company Rainbow cleaning, were absolutily nothing to do with the franchise comp Rainbow International. which I must admit was the immpression I got whilst reading the article.
not knocking Richard in any way, an excellent marketing ploy, he seemed a nice guy

I'm reliably informed that Rainbow International concentrate on fire/flood damage work and carpet cleaning is pupely a sideline.

See them about quite a bit.
I am not sure but are they not in direct competition to Chem Dry?
Mark.
