Hi Guys,
Just wondered what was your thought on leaflets, do you think it is better to put prices on or not? I use both methods depending on time of year & work load. ( I'll take cover from all you fast trackers out there! )

Why put price on? All you want them to do is pick up the phone so you can go round and give them the opportunity to seeing you, understand their needs and explain why they should use you now at your price.
Some who are busy say they don't have time and that's fine. But as fellow newbie that's some way off. :'(

Working class to working class/middle class areas put price on; pure middle class areas leave price off.

Never put prices on leaflets, Whatever price you put on will be the target customer, some will think you are to cheap and not use you, others will think that you are to expensive and not use you as well.
The price you quote on a leaflet is the price you charge unless you bait and switch.
Information will attract the right client and maybe some offers on them as well.

if you want high volume work load, though its against the grain on this site, i have in early days used the old '50% off' leaflets and they do work! they get the phone ringing.
downside your price is kind of fixed, though there is little flexibility in it. carpet might be larger or dirtier than expected.
on the plus side, good if your new to c/c ing- build experience up fast as you'll be doing lots of jobs!
PS. they got more calls in than the ones im using now! which are full colour, posher and no prices.

I've been doing it for a fair few years now. I only use prices for special offers at certain times of year. As a rule August is normally quite, so I did the old Summer specials. I couldnt of shot myself harder in the foot with a shotgun! I did not have a day of for the whole month! for some reason this year we was very busy any way. I think it may have been said before, but it is a funny old game!

Lounge £35
Through Lounge £48
Hall £14
Stairs & Landing £35
Bedroom £25
Upholstery
2 Seater sofa £35
3 Seater sofa £45
Armchair £25

no, you got be expensive to be half price ian, above was when i changed to my permently low price champaigne. ;D
i noticed smeone must have picked homeclean up on this as on the bottom there new leaflets, half price ones it now says;
asterisk next to before prices,
*the higher prices have been charged in random parts of the country for 28 days in the past six months.

In the early days i displayed prices and made the mistake of not putting a time limit on them ( fixed till may 2006 kind of thing ).
Two years later my prices have increased and people still call expecting the old leaflet prices, so i no longer advertise my prices or price over the phone.
I would say the only difference was that when i displayed my prices the people that did phone did so to book work rather than price match. The phone rings a hell of a lot more without prices and then it is down to my sales patter and personality to gain work over my competition ;D.

I always state
'rooms from £15'
'suites from £55'
At the bottom I state a min charge.
This attracts their attention and I get many calls because of it. We all do rooms for £15 sometimes so its not a lie ie. small bedrooms etc. and very simple unsoiled suites can be £55. I always get a decent price after that; 35-45/lounge thru lounge 55, beds ave 25, HSL 45, 5 seater £95 It equates to 50/h anyway so its fine.

I dont uderstand how anyone can clean a suit for less than £150. First off no one likes doing them, so why do them cheap. Then even if its fairly clean it still takes 2 hours, and if its dirty, witch most of them are it can take 3 to 4 hours. Unless you have no intention of being there for more than a hour, in witch case it hasn't been cleaned properly and what ever price you charge is to much.

i agree with lavina, i could'nt clean a sweet for less than £155
just not worth the hassle
i would also NEVER NEVER NEVER put a price on a flyer

Again, I have to agree with Lavinia. Why we would clean for less than 150 quid is beyond me. But if you are happy working for 50 an hour (which is also beyond me) and bait and switching then there will alway be these cheeper prices. Best, Dave. P.S. I dont do leaflets but if I did I would never under any cirumstances put a price on them......

3 reasons why my prices are such:
I have to deal with Liverpool and St. Helens, not the most lucrative areas. Most or many other cleaners are cleaning for 30-40% of my prices. I have tried the up market approach, briefly, it doesnt work in my area, especially short term.
I am only establised here 3 months and need to get the work somehow and I am only here until xmas because I am going back to New Zealand so I have to make quick £. There simply isnt time to become established and charge top £.
I can clean a dirty suite in 2 hours to a very high standard...believe it or not.

Surely even Liverpool must have some posh parts. Have you thought of doorknocking these areas with higher price? You get even quicker results than flyers.

Hi Dave, i cover burton wood, cronton, huyton, childwall, prescot, the whole of st. helens, and parts of ormskirk. I have an excellent delivery firm who ony charge me £15/1000 (3-4 in total) and do actually deliver them. They dont cover many up market areas but I stick with them because of their cost and honesty. Where do you cover?
Hi Mike, I dont have the guts to knock on doors Im afraid but niether do I have the time; I also do some property renovating and I am also a student landlord. Basically Ive just had enough :(
