Title: Chenille
Post by: bpb on September 25, 2006, 10:28:48 pm
Advice would be appreciated please:

Does anybody clean chenille suites?
Has anybody had any problems cleaning?

I've been advised that the key is thorough pre-testing but I'm still reluctant to clean as I've read a few horror stories about bleeding?

Thanks

Check for existing pile burst and watch out for pH sensitive dyes on fabric containing natural fibres

Hi Guys,

Check out this link

See how Chenille varies, its the rayon/viscose you have to look out for, particularly reds and blacks.

Cheers

Never had a prob with Chenille. Apart from the pile distortion and flatttening etc from use which makes it look dirtier than it actually is. Which subsequently still looks dirty after a clean in places.

Hi,  Even cream suites from expensive shops that look a doddle to clean can change texture with water and leave a shiny look to the fabric. If in doubt test, if not sure, solvent clean. Had a few corner suites from DFS that were like this.

I always clean a zip end of cushion and then dry and compare texture with the rest

"If in doubt solvent it out" ;) be safe not sorry.
