hi
got a customer with oak floors who up till recent has always waxed them themselves. now wants me to look after them. the look pretty bad considering how they should look. she want it "taken right back and start again". I've never done a waxed floor before, how would you proceed, any suggestions?

When you say it looks really bad, do you mean the wax looks un-even?
I do not think you will be able to tell the real condition of the floor until you have removed the wax, and inspected for damage.
Is your customer a commercial client, or a domestic client?
As you probably already know, wax'ed floor have a poor slip resistance, could effect you and your client.

this is a domestic client, when i say poor condition, its uneven, worn in places, i think she said they looked after a dog for a while and by the door the floor is scratched badly. i think too where they have done it themselves its been a bit rushed.

Sounds like it might need sanding, job for a specialist unless you have done it before, I would relay this info to the client, and state that you will not be able to advise her further until the wax has been removed, if the seal is still in good condition a solvent based wax is what you need, hope this helps, regards,
