I'm fed up with single carpet cleans, must admit old customers always go for 2 at least,
but a single carpet with a TM !
I decided to put my minimum charge up to £59 this covers most small rooms/jobs.
Have had no resistance yet!! but only been doing it about 10 days.
What's your minimum?
Shaun

mines £40.
couldnt agree more, little jobs are a bl**dy nuisense! how do they think we make a living.
"oh how much is a bedroom please? you can go around the bed" >:(
-
£ 50 for most, £ 40 for OAP's and some regulars if close to home.
-
My minimum charge is £55, but I would like to increase it to £100!
-
£35 but thinking to jump to £49
And if small job with only one carpet in the house, you know the ones carpet on the stairs and everything else laminate, say this
Well im afraid the minimum charge is £49 and my usual charge for stairs is slightly lower, so why dont i clean, condition, deodourise and protect them for you, all for the mimimum charge.
Gotta sound better than, £49 take it or leave it.
-
£35 but thats in merseyside where people often thinks thats too much. If I am lucky enough to get a £35 job it takes me 40 minutes in and out - not splash and dash but you can certainly forget the vac and agitation.
-
Craig, dont that you can go round the bed rubbish drive you mad, its all iv had today.
"there only small rooms"
"there not even that dirty"
"you can go round the bed"
So far today iv had one bloke ring me, telling me "£10 for a bathroom? its only small cant you reduce the price"
Another woman bidding me down from £131 to £130 ???
And another bloke telling me "but my hall is really small" "im laying down in it now and my toes are touching the door, and i can touch the skirting board at the other end with my fingers" ???
All from a certain ethnic group, strangely enough.

Shaun thats more than John (you know who) charges for a suite ::)
-
hi red,
yes and when you get your TM it will annoy you more cus you think, they want me go miles out with thousands worth of TM just to clean up a little tea stain or clean poxy 3ft rug ! lol.
-
But at least he wont have to fill his porty up and wait for it to get hot. ;D ;D
-
i wonder if we should just say to custy;
"what! thats all you want cleaned!! hardly worth me coming out, make it worth me while and have a bit more done, what do you think i live on air?"
how do you think that'll go down?
;D
-
Damian, for what John charges and the amount of time his worker spends then it's about right! not that he does a bad job but you may find a missed bit or 2 but hey you wouldn't expect too much for that price to be fair.
Shaun
PS where's Dave Liohan he doesn't go out for probably less than £200 that's the way to do it.

Minimum Charge for me is £60
Driving to Job
Taking Freephon call from Customer
Unloading and setting up
and finally the cleaning
If thats under an hour of anyones time i'd be supprised
-
thats it, actall cleaning is hardly any time, i often drive 25 mins to get to job other side of town and 25 mins back, hardly worth it somtimes for just a bedroom, (which are always cheap crap carpets in bedrooms, that never clean to well)
-
I bet you all complain about other peoples, minimum charges for supplying services and products.
It's the industry you choose to be in, stop moaning !
Of course, we'd all love to live in the dream world of, full house cleans, day after day, but the reality, is, some single carpet jobs will come along.
As any marketing pro' will tell you, smile and do the work to your highest standard. You don't know whoyou're dealing with. The single carpet can, if you're alert, to other work and if you don't do it, you are missing a marketing opportunity.
Have a nice day
Angie
I am just leaving, to clean a single carpet, but it's in a huge semi, sheltered housing, block of flats. This to my mind presents an opportunity.
-
Angie,
While you are cleaning carpets who is running your other companies.?
-
If they wont pay your minimum charge they are not worth having as customers.
Pass them on to the spash and dash because thats what they are looking for.
Angela, you need to take some happy pills, do you ever say anything positive. ???
-
£45 us, but thinking in chaning it to £50 and £45 for OAP's.
All my new promotional literatire pushes 3 for 2 on carpets so hopefully will get more multi room cleans in the furute.

hi folks my minimum charge is £50 and if i got 2 a day at the moment i would be happy ive only got 1 job this week £160 on friday :'( :'( :'(
-
£50 for me, usually persuade them to have something else done. I've got my set up and pack up time down to 35mins but it's hardly worth it for less than 50 squid.
If they say no the time is better spent marketing for more suitable long term clients. Exceptions are people of influence who come into contact with lots of people. I give them business cards or ask them who they could ring right now.
-
Im sick of cheap b*****ds but I always place them en route to better jobs, that way I get £35 for a 'quick' stop in an area. This is usually then only 40-50 mins of my time.
Just to clarify even tho I care little for some types of custard I have never had a single call back in 800 jobs so the standard is still there even for such little time.
On the whole £50/h and £250/day average (9-4.30) is fine.
Im not establised.
-
£80+vat. Although I will do small jobs as favours to established Clients at better rates. I really do think it's how you set out your stall that dictates what work you get. Martin :)

Good morning Ian
I only got involved again, in c/c recently as my husband had to stop, due to a serious heart problem, although he is hoping to do some work again, soon !
We are in the Domicilery care business, employing 20, which I run with my mother. It only requires 1-2 hours per day, in the office, otherwise it's receiving diverted calls, wherever.
I'm only involved in that, plus c/c, where my involvement is training and transporting our son around. We feel, at 17, even although he's 6ft 2ins our credibility could suffer, if he worked alone. Besides, he lacks experience and knowledge, but is learning.
As you know, Robert is a practitioner of Spinal and Pelvic Corrective techniques and is hoping to escape from c/c entirely, to concentrate on, 'fixing peoples backs' which he's very good at.
I'm not involved in the therapy business, other than being a regular 'client'. Useful!
Just filling in my day, like most working women !

Shaun, I have raised my prices to a service charge of £175. This way I dont ever just get the "one" room jobs, well maybe I do. I did just one bedroom the other day but it was 1500 square feet with a 600 square foot closet. ( or is that then 2 rooms?). Anyway, best, Dave.
-
Dave, now I know Im doing something wrong, how do you do it?
How long you been established btw?
-
Rich, 13 years and I ask for it, but I also ask the right people. Best, Dave.
-
Dave was that clean and protect?
Do you get most of your work from designers and the likes so you can get in the right kind of homes?
or in other words you don't advertise but use associate trades to work as agents?
Shaun
-
Shaun, yes, yes and yes. Having said that I only charge the customer for the first protection, as and when it is needed again I dont charge. Best, Dave.
-
mine is £40 and i have loads of work at the moment but a lot of my regulars were just one room to start with probably to see if i was any good! then i went back and cleaned the rest ;D allthough i must say my mate who i have trained up, now sub contracts for me and does all the small jobs i dont want to do!!
It works ;D
