Post by: peterharwood on September 08, 2006, 08:15:37 pm
Hi Guys

Have been using normal garden hose that has lasted for 5 months now but is about to die, was going to make the change to microbore or minibore what is best and is there much of a difference ?

Also where should I buy

Cheers

All I know is mini is 8mm and micro is 6mm

I'm running it out back of van.

microbore is 6mm bore and mini is 8mm bore.

Haven't used minibore yet but heard its very good - we only supply microbore at present and have looked at minibore in the past but either is miles better than half inch garden hose.

I changed all my hoses from the so called microbore which is just a name to describe 6mm bore hose to the again so called mini bore which is 8mm bore.

There is a big difference especially when you have more that 50mtrs on a reel. Flow rate is much better because it isnt restricted as much and the pump doesnt seem to have to work anywhere near as hard.

could be worth looking into - as I say we have looked into it in the past but haven't tested it yet.

Im using micro bore at the moment, about 6 months & i think its great but a lot of you have seemed to of switched to minibore.

Is it the same to work with as microbore, its so easy to pull out, go round corners & over fences & hardly ever snags, it also winds back up with no effort?

Any idea on the cost?

Thanks.

The advantage of microbore is that it automatically provides a suitable flow rate for working with, any larger bore and you will be using too much water for the windows and your tanks will not last as long

Honest question..would the difference between 6mm and 8mm id be that different for hose lengths above 50 meters?

Sorry if it seems a dumb question.
