Hi
Does anyone know where we can purchase WC related Christmas cards? ???
Cheers
Steve
-
Could u not make your own?
Or would that be to many to make.
I was going to make a christmas post card, but i don't have to make to many.
Dave
-
Hi Dave
That's a possibility, but I wanted to see if there was anything out there that may be suitable, "off the shelf" so to speak. I may resort to making them if I can't find anything suitable.
Cheers
Steve

Sounds like a nice oppourtunity for somebody to make some money if they had the equipment to make them.
Jouk would be a good one to ask, his lad is good at designing stuff like that ;)
-
get the tips do away with the cards
gaza [ebonezier] bah hunbug

I had some done by vista print you can choose from a few designs and also upload any pic you want on the front.
-
This will be the third year in a row that I've thought it would be a good idea to try and get some 'Cleanitup' christmas cards made up. I was thinking of getting a cartoonist to do some sort of generic comic sketch and then get a load printed up and then offering them to members at a reasonable cost. It's something Numatic does every year and it works well.
What do you think?
How many cards would everyone want and does anyone know a decent (and cheap) cartoonist?
Regards
Mike

Mike,
WC related Christmas Cards is a great idea and it's something I've asked about in the past.
One of my customers is an artist, I'll phone her later on today, for a quick chat and see if she's interested and if I can get a price out of her.
What's my brief; something connected with Window Cleaning and Christmas, but cartoon style and humerous?
-
I personally will not send crimbo cards but will prefer to give the money directly to a established charity of my choice...Just think the money will be better used. cards do seem to be such a waste of time, resources...and just silly....I wonder what the stock market value of Hallmark is ?
I suppose that this thread officially marks the start of the Christmas season. :)
Cheers
Dave.
-
I'd buy 200 WFP Christmas Cards, but if theres a ladder anywhere on it I dont want any ;D
Maybe you can have 2 cards made
1 for the old timers and 1 for the future of window cleaning ;D ;D ;D
-
I've left a message on Sharon's (the artist's answer phone).
When she returns the call I'll ask her how much something like that would cost then e-mail Mike Boxhall.
If he's happy with the price, then we can discuss what should be on it.
But I would like a card with both ladders and WFP on it; since I use both.
-
Anyway, I'd have 350 of the cards; depending on their final cost and how much cash I've got on me at the time of ordering.
Remember, the cost is tax-deductable anyway.
-
Hi Tosh,
Yeah im only joking just trying to start another WFP vs Trad argument ;)
Found this American Website with WC Christmas Cards
http://www.specialtygreetings.com/windowwashercards.html

The WC xmas card is a great idea and its something i search for every year but never find.
I would buy some if some were made up.

-
Good find Alistair.
I spent a lot of time looking but didn't come across the site that you found.
http://www.specialtygreetings.com/windowwashercards.html
Looks like there may be a lot of interest in this, so it will be good to see what Tosh & Mike come up with.
Cheers guys. ;)
Steve
-
I've not had a reply from Sharon (the artist) yet; they could be away; they have a caravan somewhere in Devon or Dorset or somewhere.
I'll try again tomorrow.
-
Good idea, i would be interested in about 250ish, would need to have a proper count up & depends on the cost but i like the idea.
Macc
-
I agree a great idea, something i think about every year but never get round to. With the concept of a card being made for window cleaning xmas cards makes it more interesting if the cost is right i am definately interested.
regards
Brett
-
Sorry, Mike; everyone,
But I had a chat with the artist today; she doesn't/can't do this sort of 'characature' art; she must be more 'high-brow', but I know she's illustrated books.
Anyway, anyone else know any artists?
-
Thanks for trying Tosh. ;)
I don't think it will be too long before someone on here comes up with a possible illustrator / artist who may be interested.
-
BRETT ,YOU DONT even send me a card :-X
gaza 1 brett 1
at half time
-
If you go to b-spokeuk.co.uk he does designs for allsorts and have just spoken to him and he will do xmas cards in wfp and trad all you have to do is send him an email hope that helps
-
you can cut and paste any w/c logo you use for your leaflets, inc. ladders, cartoon wc,s etc .. then make your own using seriff publisher.
gary.
-
I would be interested in 200 if the price is right!
-
does it work , get more tips?
-
Still trying to find an artist........can anyone help?
We'd also need an idea of what sort of picture to use. The only thing I could think of is a snow covered window being cleaned with a squeegee (yes, I know, I know!!) exposing some festive scene inside. What you you think?

Mike

-
Someone sent it me last year ( I cant remember who ) when I was looking for a xmas picture for some cards I had printed
-
just go to poundland and buy a few boxes of christmas cards the type out on your computer merry christmas thas all we do lol
-
Just been reading through this thread, gave me an idea how i can kill some time as i'm sitting at home bored as i got rained off so had a little muck about in photoshop
(http://www.aqua-pura.co.uk/Images/card.jpg)
couldn't find any images of santa and reindeers otherwise they would of been using the wfp
-
Not sure if this is any good Mike. Would obviously ask for their website to sample the work. I have seen a book they illustrated but the pictures were of animals & a picture of the famous John Seymour. I visualised more a cartoon type drawing?
"Artist and Illustrator I am a Manchester based artist, working in a range of media. Recently, I have produced the cover design for ‘A Good Life’ by Paul Peacock, as well as the interior line drawings and will be soon designing the cover for the biography of Jack Hargreaves. I am currently writing and illustrating a series of children’s books, in between brewing up and walking the dog."
email address henandink@yahoo.co.uk
In addition, I'm waiting for an email address from a guy called Howard. He is a graphic designer. He's used to working from concept to finished article so could get the whole project print ready. Will PM all these details to you when I get them.

What would you guys be willing to pay for professionally printed window cleaner themed christmas cards? (lets say they are left blank on the inside for you to personalize yourself at a high street print shop)
Quantities;- 50 - £ ?
100 - £?
150 - £ ?
200 - £ ?
-
Not posted for a while as i moved house!
ANYWAY, last year went down shops and bought 600 crimbo cards and just printed my own message on the inside using my computer, didnt take a genious as you guess else i wouldnt b a w/c! OR WOULD I????
it worked a dream by putting dear customer set out at top, then my company name and my name and number underneath! Try it loads of tips last year, ill definately b doing same this year, if i can remember how i did it!!
-
OK
So it seems we have some contacts all we need now is to agree on the picture. What does everyone thinks of steve's idea. I think it needs to be a cartoon type drawing myself but th majority rules
A couple fo people have meantioned this artist http://www.geofftristram.co.uk/ the problem is that he'll need to know how much detail we want to be able to price it.
I don't think it's practical to do 2 images so it needs to be an image suitable for both traditional and wfp. Any more ideas?
Mike
-
Howard, the illustrator I mentioned above, is happy to be contacted about this on TheBlueShed@fsmail.net

Hi Mike mine was never intended to be an idea i just had a muck about one afternoon so i thought i'd add it to the post.
I have never tried christmas cards before but if you rekon you get more tips then i'll have a go myself at it, i rekon i'll just get a winter/christmas scene and whack our logo on it.
-
Hi Steve,
How much did you pay for the number plates?
I am right in saying you have two sets, or am I totally mistaken and that is just a moody one in the photo.
ProPole
-
Hi Propole we have two number plates on the vans A7OUA and A9OUA with a little screw stratigically placed on each van to make it look like a Q.
They were a bargain at £199 each, they get a lot of comments and attention and i think they were money well spent!
-
:o :o :o £199 omg I have to get me one of those, you have the best combinations you sod ;)
Were did you get them from mate?
ProPole

Sorry mate I get it now X4 OUA is not bad mite have a think on that.
I have found AA51 OUA or AA51 UAA
What do you think matey?
ProPole
-
i seemed to have started a number plate war! :o
I know X4oua was still there but we wanted a set for the vans A7OUA and A9OUA were very close match and look like a set
I have confirmed another run 3/4 (1 number out on each) plates that will tie in nicely with what we do but there around £400 a pop so hopefully they'll still be there when we get some newer vans.
There are some decent plates to be had out there just need to use your imagination a little! ;)
-
Now it's me that's not catching on :'(
What does AA51 OUA turn into?
If you're looking for AQUA, then the ones with the X's in them look closer to me.
I've already got a plate or I'd have booked the second one for me.
-
so hopefully they'll still be there when we get some newer vans.
Snap them up just now and pay £25 a year to keep them on retention.

it won't be any relevance to anyone elses business than ours really. but don't really wanna share it as i would love for them to be all mine >:( when i rule the world with poop loads of aquapura vans i will need them! ;D only joking! but we have got visions for a lot more vans so should keep them all on the same "theme".
-
You better get your wallet out quick then mate ;D ;D
Only joking, im not in the market for one for a few months yet ;)
ProPole
-
OMG i have found the best one SWEET
IM NOT SAYING A WORD :-X
-
best way mate, show it off when you bought it ;)
-
You know matey, 189 bar aswell Steve, TOUCH ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for giving me the idea mate, my van is gonna look the dogs with it ;D
ProPole
-
it should do, for not a lot of cash you get a nice bit of flash!
i think its all about perception people always comment on ours, think we are part of a big chain or summit so really does give out good vibes i believe. and the beauty is they think they are worth a mega bit of doe ;)
-
Yea yours looks the biz Steve it gives a proper pro image, when I saw it I thought to myself "I must get me one of those"
189 is a nice little price ;D are there any other fee's and charges other than changing it over, and how much does that cost mate?
Many Thanks
ProPole
-
with vat and changing over to van i believe its around £250-£270 its been a while since i had em but think thats around what i paid
-
250-270 including the £189 yea mate.
so basically £189 + vat + registrating the plate = £270
Pro
-
about could be cheaper as your plate is only £189, i think its 35 to transfer the plate but could be wrong. so its £189+£33.07+£35=£257.07 (i think)
-
Happy Days ;D ;D ;D Cheers Steve for your help and pioneering idea, it has inspired me.
will give you all a butchers when I get it :D

anyway another hijacking of a subject, totally uncalled for ::). so i thought i'd post this image to get the subject underway again

nice season n all that, not being a scrooge... but can someone please tell me why xmas cards has been a topic thread all year.?
i mean come on guys... think straight.... xmas cards?.... yes its a nice gesture.... but a major thread?....
nah .
am i the only person who thinks this is a waste of a topic thread...
what about.....
1/ Where are youi now
2/ Im a cowboy
3/ Squeaky rules
4/ or Starting a new window cleaning business but oh no, hang on, we will do away with that and concentrate on xmas card forum.
5/ All the contact details you need to purchase everything instead of asking everyone all the time.
JUST A THOUGHT MODERATORS. ;)
-
I take it you don't want xmas cards then. ;D
I think its a good idea myself but has anyone actually sourced any we can use as i would be interested in getting some.
I see this post is 4 pages long but has it really got anywhere
Paul
-
;)..... I love xmas... and cards.... but., That was my initial reason for my post... i think there are two ideas , realistically and thats it...
i think the thread would be ok from october... and the rest of the year use it for more constructive things like, buying scources, or an equipment forum where people can discuss various equipment needed and where to buy etc etc etc.
-
Or bore everyone by asking thousands of stupid questions that a forum search would answer.
-
oh xmas cards are exiting are they in june and july?.. doh..
new people to the forum like to ask guys who are helpful and sometimes the same day, and also like feedback... a bit like yours... only normal.! ;D
-
hi guys i have used christmas cards for 2 years what i do is buy cheap cards at asda and i made up my ticket with my xmas message then glued it to the card and it worked a treat. The amount of customers that thank you and even just mention how nice it was is brill this year i have sent away for a stamper with the message on it let you all know how it goes. There is a place that sent me a sample of a card with a pen in it but they are very dear. cheers boys
-
Went shopping in Morrisons the other day and saw christmas cards- 30 for 99p or 2 packs for 1.50, not bad if you just want o send your customers a basic christmas card
As they say its the thought that counts
merry christmas
Brett
-
Asda doing 50 for a quid, i just put them through the printer.
-
I've just bought a load of crimbo cards, 50 for 90p, there not naff either, got little jokes on them.
couldn't be bothered with customizing some, not enough time in the day, just gonna stamp our logo with a message on the inside...jobs a goodun! ;)
