Title: Upvc Cleaning 2nd floor
Post by: david68 on September 04, 2006, 09:14:38 pm
Hi All

I have a job where i have to, first clean out the gutters and then the upvc.
But there is no room for my ladders to rest above the window.

Would i rest them against the top guttering and be careful?

Also its a 3 sided bay window

Dave  ???

I would not rest a ladder against a gutter although i have been guilty in the passed as they slip to easily.

You need a ladder stand off about £20 in any DIY store.

Use ladder mitts - I never had them slip even on upvc. Not that I recommend you do that. (If you're gentle and no other option you can put them on modern sealed unit glass - near the edges - too.)

Ok paul thanks i will try that .

I take it i need to position the stand off as far up the ladder they can go?

Might be a dum question, but never used them before

Yep thats all you need.

As long as the ladder is at a safe angle it won't go anywere.

For added peace of mind fit some stabilisers to the bottom of your ladder as well to be on the safe side!
