Just got a CFR upholstery tool, and put it through its paces today.
Nice piece of kit, and I think it will take a little gettin used to ,as it is a low moisture tool,I was quite supprised at how much water I used ( very little compared to normal) .Strange how they all have a slightly different working way about them.
Now Ill use the Kleenrite swivel head for really trashed suites or ones that need a heavy hit, the dry master for very fine fabric and the CFR for the rest.
Spoilt for choice or what.
-
why not use the CFR for everything but change the jet & water pressure?
did you get the 5inch head?

Its strage how things come around. 20 odd years ago when I started, everyone used an open spray tool (hand stair tool now) and covered the whole room up as they oversprayed with a vengeange. Then we used jets with a guard round them and finally enclosed jets.
I have now reverted to using an open jet tool. The jet on the enclosed tool blocked and I didnt have time to dismantle it to clear the jet, so I finished off with the open jet.
Using ms I found that prespay, brush and then spray fairly generously with the tool from 6" before vaccing the results away. It works a treat. The fabric does not get too wet , the dirt comes out and I now use about 15 lt water for a full 3 pce suite.
I have since checked by repeating the whole thing using an enclosed tool and found next to no dirt coming out.

Good point about the closed head tool.
Today using the CFR I did a check on the 2 base cushions on one of the sofa's as they did not look quite right after I had cleaned them.I sprayed a micro splitter then wiped with a pure white terry towel and I got lots of dirt transfer, so I gave it another hit and this time about 5 passes with the CFR tool and that did the trick.
If I had of been using the Kleenrite tool it would have took the lot out in one or two hits but with the CFR it took more passes,I think this is because of the lack of pressure it fires in with compared with the other tool, but on the other had it was a lot less wet. Even with out blowers it was dry within the hour with the CFR.
-
how does the cfr and drimaster tool work ...does it dump a lot of unused solution or is there a way it recycles it ?
-
Matt not sure what you mean.
-
No it dosen't recycle it i used 35ltrs on a 3 seater sofa :o
but it dries quicker than a conventional handtool ;D

Nick
You must be talking about the dry master and you will only use that much water if you have not adjusted it correctly.
-
Paul
I am not sure what you mean when you say you haven't enough pressure with the cfr hand-tool...I presume you are using it with a non cfr machine
You can dial up the pressure if using the cfr machine 'plus' you can change jet sizes giving loads of combinations.....a very versatile tool
-
Derek no not using CFR machine and only taking it to 300 psi. What is its optimum pressure?
-
By varying the jets you can use it up to 400 psi if you choose....I have found 300 psi to be more than adequate on very soiled fabrics.
I will use the red jet (001) on the fine flatweaves and the yellow jet (002) on heavier fabrics such as Acrylic and Chenille
-
yep Paul its the drimaster a hard mistress to handle!!
Nick
-
Derek I think the difference is also in the jet angle as the CFR tool fires at 45 degree angle, where as the Kleenrite fires from above. It is very similar to a detailing tool which firs across the yarn/flock against the Prochem glide master that fires from above,of course the head angles are different as well or have I had too much Stella. ;D
-
im on the Cobra myself :P
-
Nick only have that on a Sat when I get a red hot Vindi
-
God bless you Stella! A very non demanding sort! Had a bad day-had to resort to lynx! :'(
-
Well thats gone over my head ???

Paul have another and it may make sense?
Regards
Damian.

-
Nick I know you get very soiled :D
But at your age ;)
-
im 32 you know :P
-
My flocking favourite tools is the Prochem T/M tool
Then my CFR
Then my own?
-
Dave is that going down in size from 3 inch :D

i alway take a six incher to any job !!!!! ;D
-
That counts Dave out ;D ;D
-
I swear the wife's putting more than sugar in my tea.
There are three things you don't do when you get to my age.
1 Pass a toilet without using it
2 Waste a hard-on
3 Trust a fart!
-
Dave re point number 3, I think we can trust Gunny
-
I want to buy a new upholstery tool, in your opinion which would be best? I use a ninja machine so I am thinking its between the kleenrite or CFR 5 inch. Any opinions??
Andy
-
If you can only afford one CFR if you can, get both.
-
If you want a CFR,I know a supplier that can beat all others by around £50.
-
tell me more!!!

I just had a look at there website.
Every items got call for pricing >:( One of my pet hates, it must put alot off people off buying :-\
-
art call for pricing is not always a bad thing as in some cases they will beat the lowest price you have been offered may be worth the hassle in the long run

Any body use the CF wand? and is it any good?
-
I not so long ago changed over from the kleanrite to the drimaster (due to the kleanrite constantly giving me w*nkers cramp ;D) and its a brilliant tool, first few times I used it I mustve interfered with the local water pressure because I was filling the tank up so much but now its all sorted and I'm used to it its going fine, plus theres the added bonus of the clear window in the top, if you get a customer that keeps hanging around just show them the crap being extracted and talk them into getting it cleaned more regularly ;D

hi paul do you mean the wonderwand!?
-
Yes the wonder wand, are they any good?
-
hi paul
i quite like them as its true you can use very heavy psi and still get the carpets to dry in reasonable time. though i have adapted mine to increase the water flow. they come with 01 jets and i replaced with 02. i also took off the roller. and i bought an extra bar that holds the jets and put in some fixed jets which suit me. i can now change the bar with the different jets in seconds to suit what ever job i am doing. there is no overspray at all a bit like the hand tools. though a fellow cc near me bought the same wand and could not get on with it. horses for courses i suppose. if you are ever up surrey way give me a shout and i can show you
-
Thanks Peter for the offer. Are you goning to Royston next week?
Altecs day out.

Hi Paual
