was wondering how much gg3 you all use in a standard bucket it seems very hard to get right ratio
-
Half a bucket of pure water and add 10ml of gg3. Works for me
Stuart
-
sorry mate still trad so dont use pure water
-
25L container mixed with 80ml of gg3.
Just empty what you need into your bucket. Works for me ;)
-
stick to old fairy always works ;D personaly I think gg3 gg4 = crap + costs a lot just another sell on to the wc
-
Hi Terry
respect your experience but disagree this product does work and beats the pants off fairy windows last longer and the shine is noticeable customer do comment on it.
it does not slide as easy as fairy if you want the slide double up the amount they recomend

Absolute rubish terry >:( Have you tried gg3/4??? If you have tried It you were obviously not using It correctly or you did'nt stick with It.
I used fairy when I first started out then switched to gg3. My first Impression was RUBISH! But I stuck with It and will never go back to fairy! It took me about 2-3 whole months to get used to It. Don't think you tried It this long or you would'nt have said what you said!
Fairy Is good but leaves a sticky residue and suds all over the place.
gg3= no sticky residue and glass DOES stay cleaner for longer. It also eats dirt like there's no tomorrow.

So before you come out with a 1 line excuse why you think gg3 Is "crap" how about explaining properly why you think It's "crap"

Hi Mathew.
Im wfp now but still do a bit trad, ie insides & insides conservatorys, why does it take a bit to get used to & do you reckon its worth me switching or just carry on with fairy as im used to it & i dont do much trad anyway?
Macc
-
i definately think gg3 is better, again i started with fairy and it does do a job, but gg3 does a better job in my opinion, the windows shine better, and stay cleaner longer meaning the next clean is easier. Fairy must leave a residue as the dirt seems to stick to the window easier.
Not to mention the suds on the frame etc, i, myself always wipe the frame and sill off, but have noticed, especially on dark couloured u p v c, that have been cleaned by different wc in the past, that a lightening of colour takes place and in some places the brown u p v c has been worn a way down to a grey colour, by the suds being left on the frame.
yes gg3 is more expensive then fairy, but i believe you get what you pay for, but do accept that fairy can do a job.
But i bet if you could do a test on the same windows over a few cleans, the customer would be happier with the gg3 finish.

Macc,
If you only do Insides I reackon your better off sticking to fairy. For some reason It's even harder to work with gg3/4 on Insides. (I'm well used to It now ;))
I can' really explain to you why It's harder to get used to. I supose It's the glide factor. Sometimes you have to pull fast and press hard with the squeegee. Also you may have to angle the blade differently.
When I first started window cleaning It was all trad work I did so I had no choice but to get the hang of It.
Hope that helps ???
P.S. Very Impreased with your van setup!

I think the reason its harder to do insides is because the windows are set deeper on the inside which means your squeegee has to be at a different angle to finish the window, just my opinion but was thinking the same thing when i read your post
-
Speed is all about slide Matthew.
I haven't tried GG3, but now you've told me that I'm not even going to consider it.
What's this all about?
A trad thread....... :o ;D
-
Yes squeaky It's a trad thread :o
I can't believe It myself :o After the roasting I gave you yesterday ;D
I'm water fed pole but as you can see from my posts I'm opened minded on both! ;D
You changed your avater! Not sure about It ???
Matthew

Speed is all about slide Matthew.
Im quicker with gg3 now than I was with fairy!!!!!!
So speed Is all about slide Is It?? ;D
-
Not sure either about it either squeaky, why the change?
Take it you use fairy?
-

Take it you use fairy?
Yeah, or the equivelent.
Got to be a good brand though.
I ran out once, and bought Tesco Value washing-up liquid.
Had to dilute nearly 50-50. ;D

I have only used fairy. If it is true that gg3 keeps the windows cleaner for longer,i wouldnt use it as customers would give it the "can you leave them this month they dont need doing" ;) fairy seems ok to me.
-
If it is true that gg3 keeps the windows cleaner for longer,i wouldnt use it as customers would give it the "can you leave them this month they dont need doing" ;)
Never happened to me!
Matthew
-
If the customer makes a habit of saying leave them this month, they look ok! Does anyone say that the next clean will be dearer as there will be more dirt on the window? Or is this bad customer service?
-
No It's not bad customer service. If It happened to me and they said that, I'd tell them It's 1 1/2 x the normal price. The would'nt say that again ;D
-
Fairy is a good cleaning product, renound for removing grease and dirt. Also adds a shine. What are the good points of gg3?Surely something that takes(as quoted)2-3 months to get the hang of cant be that good.Maybe one day i will give it a go and be proven wrong
-
Only had one woman ask me to leave them this time, think that it was because she was skint, not because the windows did not need doing! Also one woman does not want me to do them if it has rained that day or is raining or is going to rain that day, so i am now having training by the met office!

Right then,
You pointed out 3 things there.
Here Is why gg3 Is better!
1. Removes dirt easily
2. Removes grease easily
3. Also gives a shine
4. No sticky residue left behind
5. Windows stay cleaner for longer! (fact)
6. Kinder on the hands.
PS.I've nothing against fairy! Just like my gg3 now ;)

I will give it a go and see
-
go on, go on, go on father ;D
-
Just rememnber fastone that using too much makes for less glide than too little
-
Nonsense!
No It does'nt!!!!
Who told you that???
-
ive heard that the solution itself isnt that thick, meaning a more watery mix, surely making it harder to see what you are taking off.
-
go on, go on, go on father ;D
;D
-
ok mrs doyle,if you insist
-
From personal experience I have hired a few lads over the years who loved their dish detergent and when i tried to change them over to gg3 they always ended up putting way too much in to make up for the lack of glide . It seemed to cause the opposite making the windows more sticky and the more they added the stickier they got
-
when we used this suff :-\ ??? the only fing we thought it was good for was washing your hands it did make your hands clean, negative side
commercial contracts thought we were so tight we did not use soap to clean there windows and we only used water, thats what it looks like,so is it not worth the money I personally dont think so I have 30 years wc tell me somthing that blows me away,er gg3 4 dont do it ;) people want to see soap
-
I agree with Terry on that.
Regardless of the result, it's looks like you're cleaning the window if there's soap suds.

Oh my gosh you are so wrong terry I can't believe It. You don't speak like you have 30 years window cleaning expertise ::)
I ALLWAYS managed to get suds with my mix!!!!
A fact Is a fact and you can't change It. You do get suds ok!
-
in that case I might waste some dosh and try again, but my past with this stuff is far from good,I have been told of wc putting some fairy in with it :-X which you might as well just use fairy :-X
-
I've tried gg3 and couldnt get any slip, however no problems with fairy or sqeegie off, if gg3 did have slip I would definatly use it as I think its great otherwise.
-
o I have been told that before to so many have tried it and thought the same as us :-X ??? :-\
-
Since going wfp, when I do insides I use purified water in the bucket, about a third the amount of fairy I used to use and a splash of gg. I honestly think it's the best I've worked with so far. I may be fooling myself, but I like it :D
-
It does make the fairy smell nice if you like that sort of thing PJ ;D
-

Funny enough that is exactly what a customer said today! He honestly said, "What do you put in there? it smells nice".
-
I do wonder whether the composition of water makes any difference with this stuff, perhaps it could explain why some are ok with it and some not, unless where all using pure with it. lol Pj ;D
-
GG4 is designed for areas with harder water
-
Yes I realise that Pat but hard or soft water can be made up of differant elements in differant areas, just wondered if maybe it made a differance.
-
Gotcha,Good question , I believe Jeff Brimble sometimes converses with a boffin in New Hampshire USA who seems to know everything about this sort of stuff maybe he could answer it
-
Terry please don't take offence to this as I respect your record but I looked at your website and watched your video of you In action and I reckon I could knock at least 7 seconds off that!!!
What Is all the swirling In the middle all about??????? Maybe I'm missing sumit. Please shed some light on this.

::) That's just him showing off and messing about.
If you saw Terry on Record Breakers like I did as a kid, you wouldn't believe your eyes how quick he does it.
-
What size of squeegee does he use? 14"?
-
Pass. :-\
-
Mathew have some respect if you bothered to go to excel then you would be amazed at Terrys speed :o I for one would love to see you try ;D in answer to your other question i'm quite sure its 12"
-
With respect terry
you should try to educate your customers not just give them suds because they want them my kids want sweats for dinner but I dont give them sweats I give them whats best
my windows are clean they can see they are not just look like ive cleaned them because they had suds on them
Fairy leaves more residue than gg3 4 thats a fact it also looks more pro than a bottle of fairy
my opinion only but I think you have to try it yourself not go on what others say

This is the daddy bear, baby bear senario.
You'll lose if you've got a challenge in mind.
-
ok guys ;D yes I have tried gg3 gg4 and riding a bloody gg,and I was not
blown away by it so we stick with what works fairy,as regards the sweets etc,the customers pay the money end of,if they fink your being tight with no soap er gg3 gg4 soap does not stay very long, but we all use what we fink is best, yes I only use a 12 incher for the record windows
to give you some idea of speed its around 2.40 seconds to clean a window of 45 inches by 45 and move to the next window ;D the circles
try doing a full 180 without taking your hand off the window at speed,TV love this stuff,I have done a TV comercial with the 2 most famous ladys in cleaning :o :-X and things will be clear to all soon ;) I have only been in the wc for 30years as a record holder since 1995 and just got faster,
if you have looked at my web site you will have noticed I am a blackbelt in karate, this has made me what I am today,I always was fast with my hands, this has toned my speed mind and body, confidence is somthing I do not lack, fings r going to change some what for me,I have only dreamed of the like, this is a great forum I said this some time ago may long it carry on ;)I think some people do not understand the years I have put in to what and who I am today it do not happen over night :)
-
Hi Terry.
