had a chat with varitech who say that they have been having a bit of trouble pressure wise with 6mm in 100 metre lenghts, and they recommend 8mm at that lenght

Changed all my reels from 6 to 8mm

Just as easy to work with but a marked improvement in flow rates. Also the pumps dont have to work anywhere near as hard. I have varistreams fitted to all my systems. Got both Flojet and Shurflo pumps and the results seem to be the same with both makes.

I can't think of any downsides with the 8mm compared to the 6mm. I got mine from Varitech as well. They do all the fittings for the 8mm and seem to go out of their way to help.

I just received 100m of 8mm minibore from cleantech and wow  :o what a great piece of kit.

I used 10mm braided hose before with a inside diameter I think of 6mm.

It's very strong and hasn't kinked on me as yet. And I don't think It will.
