Title: Vouchers and Masks!
Post by: jr windows on August 25, 2006, 08:22:02 pm
Dear fellow window cleaners,

As you all know from my previous post I have put my prices up. What a fun week I have had! Lost four (good riddance) up to now and had one lady attempt to pay me in M&S vouchers, after she generously told me she had given me an extra pound.

The finale today was a guy who had sellotaped my letter advising of my price increase onto the outside of his front door. He chased me up his drive to tell me that I should be wearing a mask with the prices I charge, this is a detached bungalow with conservatory up from £4 to £5, needless to say he doesn't require my services anymore and I am well rid of him!

So, watch out for them vouchers guys, only stamps and sterling are legal tender!

Have a great weekend, Jason

you are entitled to earn a decent wage, and at the price you say you are charging, I would say you are pretty fair

I wouldnt worry to much about changing over I'm in the process of changing mine over and taking on new cleans, most are commenting on how clean the windows are now and I have picked up more work since changing in fact twice as much as usual, I've had 1 complaint that the bottom sills had several drops of water on them, and one guy of about 80 who yesterday told me when I left after his first clean he wanted to thump me but was amazed when it dried, what I will say is its impossible to say who is going to like it and who isnt but honestly most are ok if you just take your time and follow advice on here.

even your prehistoric customers will understand the dangers with ladders, anyone who doesn't is daft - do a good job and most of your customers will stick with you, no probs.

Hi Matt,

Yes if I lived in a place where I could spend m&s vouchers I would accept them too, but for £6 worth of vouchers it would cost me a lot more in diesel to get there. Probably why the lady had them in her purse in the first place ?

Thanks Jason
