Public Liability (PL) Insurance covers you for claims resulting from injuries you might cause to people, or for damage to their property, in the course of your work. PL doesn't cover the item worked on, whether damaged at the time the work was carried out or appearing some time afterwards in consequence. Insurance cover for the latter risk is sometimes (wrongly) called 'products liability', although most cleaners call it Treatment Risk. Treatment Risk can be quite expensive to obtain (Insurer's don't like covering what they refer to as poor workmanship), and some policies tend to have high excesses attached to this as well.
Hope this helps and is not too detailed.
Regards
Pete (JS2)
