Hi Vanguard,
I would say it will cost between £2.90 and £2.10 a square metre , which hopefully she will reply thats O.K.
If when you are finished at £2.90 per metre she says ,'oh I didn't think it would be that much', you can say well I did say between x and y and as it was dirty it's the higher figure.
Obviously the numbers are up to you.
Cheers

I'd agree. Quote a per metre price over the phone.
Also, if the job turns out well pin one of your flyers to the notice board..a lot of people use community centres and you may get extra work off the back of this job.

in these circumstances i give a quote over the phone on condition there are no surprises and so far i have never had a problem except one Asian chap who said his carpets were reasonable clean and when i got there they were humming and had not been vacuumed for weeks stains everywhere but still did the job at a higher price

Hi
From you conversation with the lady, it seems to me that she is just looking for someone to come and clean it ,
we have had a few jobs like that all you get asked is "when can you do it " . That is all they care about, we normally just get told to send the invoice in .
Never had a problem, Council areas can be good as its not the person that you talk to that pays for it. They just need it done ASAP.

we do lots of cleans for local authorities and they never ask the price, which often means they don't care, they just want it done properly and normally really soon.
we send the invoice in and get paid, it's as simple as that!
No probs so far!
In fact once we made a mistake on an invoice and they paid us £300 more than the real price 8)
of course we rectified it later ;)

I am with you guys just get on and do it....although give an indication on a price per square metre. I am the same seem to be getting more and more people who just want it done asap.
