Title: new truckmount
Post by: Steve Chapman on August 14, 2006, 06:18:45 pm
Hi all,

Have been thinking of late of upgrading to a truckmount and seen that Hydramaster do a complete setup with new van and machine etc for about £18 000.

Has anyone gone down this route and do you think it's a good deal or would it be better to buy separate?

I think the truckmount is a spitfire 3.2.

Would appreciate your comments
steve

Woodbridge do a similar deal on truckmount / van set ups. I dont have any prices, but my pro mount 20 T/M was about £4000 less than the equivalent hydramaster boxer?
Cheers

oh, hydramaster are more but they are top machines, you gets what you pay for, and hydramaster been making truck mounts over 30 years, and you'll be looked after with them, after sales is exellent, even if you get a second hand one, they'll take time out to go through everything with you.

carpet doctor why not pop over to woodbridge event on saturday and look at both prochem and the panther truckmounts that will be there give you some idea. then ask hydromaster to give you a demo. but bear in mind woodbridge are doing free upgrades on the day so pay for the 18 and get the 20 or pay for the 20 and get the twin 25

hi carpet doctor if your looking for a good piece of kit ive got the woodbridge pro 25 i looked at all the other truckmounts about .and for reliability vale for money and an excellent back up service .i think second to none .woodbridge came out tops hands down.whenever ive needed anything its been there straight away.and i live in plymouth 250+miles away.but two yards from another truckmount company.ive had the machine which is dual wand since jan with over 800 hours on the clock now with out so much as a hicup .i dont know why but a few people tend to knock woodbridge all the time for some reason .but i speak as i find.and i dont think youll go far wrong with one of their machines i hope you all the best with what ever machine you buy

Thanks for all the replies,

Nobody has actually answered the original question, if it's a good deal for a van and truckmount all in one package???? :P

Do you think it's a good way to save money???

"20 times more powerful than a porty"
Most portys run at approx 100psi,except high end machines which will be higher.
So if you are going to advertise 100 times more powerful than a porty, will you be cleaning carpets at 2000 psi?
Your ad could read something like-
"there won't be much of your carpet left but at least it will be clean" ;D

Funny you should say that, "cleaning carpet at 2000 psi."
I too have a Panther and its the only Truck-mounted machine around that will in fact work at these pressures, hard surfaces that is.  Never thought of cleaning carpets at that kind of pressure though :-\

Dave, the Prowler works at 2000psi as well. Have been using it all week to clear silt from a huge warehouse after a burst water main.

John,

For a complete set up built into a van what would the prowler cost?

Sorry John forgot all about the Prowler, the added advantage you have over all the others is you have no wast tank to keep empting. ;)

So where does the waste go?
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Buster Ingram on August 16, 2006, 12:32:19 am
Art its MAGIC the wast water just dissapears in a cloud of steam!
I'll let John tell you aall about that bit :-X
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: John Kelly on August 16, 2006, 12:38:20 am
After a heavy 16 hour day I'll not go into too much detail, just winding down before I retire to my pit.
The Prowler sucks the waste water directly through the blower which vapourises a good proportion of it. The remainder is directed to a suitable drain or onto ground. or can be directed to a storage container.
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Art on August 16, 2006, 12:47:59 am
So what would the total cost of the set up be?
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Liahona on August 16, 2006, 03:06:45 am
There are quite a few truck mounts that clean at 2000 psi. The Everest I think it

is called will clean at 3000 psi. Very little use for it I know and personaly I dont

like the machine but it doesnt alter the fact it can go to 3000, best, Dave. P.S.

Put the prowler in a very good second hand van and you will end up with a

better deal than the starting post is suggesting.

if you want to look at cheap vans then in my opinion the best place is vans direct based in wales i bought the trafic for thousands less and it was delivered direct to my door

Arthur....we don't lease vans.  The full cost of the Prowler is £5,995 (+ VAT).  The only other thing you need to get going is a Water Tank (we can supply these, all sizes).  I use a 400 Litre Upright which is £144 (+ VAT).

Cheers

Hi John,

Sorry my question wasn't very clear, i didn't mean the van aswell.
What i was asking was what would the cost be with the prowler & water tank all fitted and ready to go or would i have to arrange fitting seperately?

Arthur
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: John Kelly on August 16, 2006, 05:13:16 pm
No fitting required other than the tank and steel cradle which is held down with 2 screws.

John,
Any chance of giving the approximate dimensions of the prowler and water tank?

And does the setup come with hose reel etc??

Cheers

I had a loan of a prowler for a week or so some  time back.Found it to be on par with my blazer does not take much space up either, you can easily remove it from your van if need be and it is easy to work on as you can get to everything quite easily.Paul King has his in a transporter and still has plenty room so a big van is not necessary.

Only thing I found was it used a lot of water but apparently that was my fault because I was not opening the by pass valve on the wand so it was dumping water when it reached temperature :-[

Nice pic, helps to see the size of the thing inside a van, and it does seem quite compact  compared to other tm's.

not knocking the prowler but regarding space and compactness perhaps it helps in this particular picture that there is no hose reel !???

Hi

And no water tank.

Dave

PS That one has a Kohler engine. i've also seen Honda engined ones.

Which would you say is better.

You are both correct of course,  i hadn't thought about that, but the actual machine is still smaller , ideal if you have a smaller van ;)

Steve if you have time on Saturday get yourself across to Woodbridge's Open Day.
I'll show you how I've got a quart into a pint pot so to speak!

In other words a Panther 20 with racking capable of holding 18 5ltr containers a hose reel containing 225' of vac hose along with a 50 gallon fresh water tank.
All in a Fiat Scudo.

Graham Boyle's comming along with me, he'll be the guy strapped to my back doors ;D
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Art on August 16, 2006, 11:34:48 pm
Dave,

As the panther seems bigger than the prowler, then am i right in saying it would be easier to fit the prowler into a scudo?

Arthur
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Buster Ingram on August 16, 2006, 11:36:59 pm
Art, the Prowler and your whole family will fit in a van that size
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Buster Ingram on August 16, 2006, 11:39:15 pm
The only down side I can see is the fresh water tank, on the panther range they fit under the machine. The Prowler's will have to stand alone! Thus taking up more floor space?
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Art on August 16, 2006, 11:53:33 pm
Dave, is the footprint of the prowler smaller than the panther?

Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: Buster Ingram on August 17, 2006, 12:02:00 am
Arthur,
I would not of thought so. The Panther is a very small machine compaired to many others considering they have a Rootes 45 blower.
From what I can see the advantage with the Prowler is you have the demountable facility along with the fact its runs without a wast water tank.
Maybe you could fit the fresh water tank behind the machince in place of a wast tank? This would free up a lot of valueble space.
John Kelly is the best guy to speak to about these machines as yet I have not had the pleasure of one yet.

I know i've asked this before,  but is there any chance it would be possible to set up the prowler  or panther in the back of a hilux surf???

I'm really loathed to get rid of it but all the same need to upgrade to a truckmount ::)

P.S.  -  it's quite amazing how space there is in the back when you know where to put it ;D

Steve the thing that would bother me about puting a T/M in you hi-lux is it would be on show went not in use!
Title: Re: new truckmount
Post by: John Kelly on August 17, 2006, 05:22:48 pm
Steve as I've said before not really practical because no matter how careful you are there are always spillages. This would soon have your truck smelling like a wet camel.

I fear it already does :'(

Seriously i know what you're saying, it's just that it's very well known around town and has never let me down, but i guess it's time to go bigger.

As i've got my options open, what would be the best setup van/machine wise , busy times i'm doing about 25 jobs a week, the poor extracta can keep up!
