Some of our evening office contracts are only big enough to justify one person which obviously means that they are 'lone workers' which means that as an employer I have certain additional responsibilities to them.
I was wondering what sort of systems other people use ? manual ? technology driven ? combination
I have tried (maybe not hard enough) to use a 'check in when leaving the building system' but this hasn't had the desired result because it seems that people on pay as you go mobiles never have enough credit to even send a text and because the actual cleaning time varys to suit the individuals circumstances on any particular day and its seems ott to insist on it happening at a particular time when the client isn't fussed as long as it gets done.
The ideal situation would be to not have any clients this small but .....

Afternoon Mick, couple of ways of doing this, do a search for Paztel/Mitc on google, should be just what you are looking for, regards.

If the client is that small, i would consider asking if it was ok for the cleaner to make a quick call to say to you they were in the building.......and a quick call to you to say they were leaving the premises. I'm sure if explained to the client that they would not mind.....especially the H&S of the cleaner working in their property all alone. If they did mind.....then yes, i would consider getting rid of them.

Hi all,
There is a company based in Northants called MITC and for only £995 including vat they will supply you with software which will enable upto 25 employees to dial your allocated phone number from the clients landline to clock in and out. It will also send you text alerts if someone is late or doesn't ring in. One other facility is you can leave messages on the system for your cleaner.

On the suzy lamplugh website I mentioned earlier if you go to the left hand column where it says 'Community Services' and click on 'safety tips' there are some documents which you can download.
The two I have as pdf files, one is from the HSE and the other from a company called Prospects.
All links and documents were given to me by my business advisor
