I saw this for sale on screfix. It's a 5 stage reverse osmosis unit for £199.00 inc vat
Would It be any good? Is It a good price.
I see the replacement filters are only a couple of quid each?
My water Is only 028ppm and was thinking this could be quite good for me to use? I only use di to purify my water at the moment but I tend to go through a fair bit of ressin. From what I gather these ro units will take the water down to 005ppm-020ppm. If this was the case I would get a lot more use out of my ressin?

Hi Matthew
Don't bother with the screwfix one, I made Enquiries to there technical support department to find out they don't have one anymore, so they gave me the number of there suppliers, after a long conversation with them it worked out better to buy from some were else, but buy your filters from screwfix. I cant remember what was said as it was some time back, but if you phone screwfix head office here in Yeovil somerset, they will give you there number and you can speak to them yourself and see what i mean.

Thanls for the advice jeff.
Can I get one like the screwfix unit for the same price anywhere???
Would It suit my water conditions as I mentioned In my first post?

hi matthew
we can supply R.Os similar to this one if your interested. the one shown in the pic is a very basic one, without any pumps/guages etc. and it looks like it only has one R.O membrane, so it wont produce much water per day.
whoever or wherever you do get one from, i would recommend getting a unit with at least 2 (if not 3) R.O membranes. this way you should be able to make about 1000ltrs per day.
and as your water is only 28ppm :o i wouldnt bother paying the extra money for a unit with electrics on it as this would put £200ish on top of your price.
hope this helps - Gary WELMAC www.welmac.co.uk

Mattew
I do recall in the conversation with the supplier that the water out-put from it was very low, so welmac is right in what he said.

Welmac,
Can you let me know the price of your ro system. Also can you email me a pic of It or post It here.

How many R.O membranes does the one on ebay have on the link above? Would It be a good buy? The price looks very tempting ;)

it says in the advert it only has 1 x 100gpd membrane. although to be honest even with the 1 membrane the price aint that bad.
the ones we do have 3 membranes on ::)
1 membrane is going to do about 250ish ltrs per day. you need to work out if this is going to be enough produce for you.
you could as an option always put another membrane onto that ebay one?
all i would say is if you do get a unit from a "trader" you will get a warrenty, whereas i dont think you will get that by buying a secondhand unit. and dare i say it......why are some things so cheap :-X
-
Ok then welmac, what unit do you have to offer me and what Is the price?
All I use Is 250L a day!

funny that i spoke about this a couple of months ago no one replied lol

Mathew,
Why pay £199 for a 100gpd basic RO, we do our 100gpd for £110, our 200 GPD for £170, our 300 GPD for £240 and our 450 GPD for £270 all inc vat & delivery, if you want the additional post filter like the screwfix one add another £10 (our image shows 300gpd unit) plus you get all the bits to connect to 1/2" hose & they all include a pressure gauge and a housing spanner, 3 year warranty (excluding consumables) and instructions.
