Title: Bloody Oriental rug
Post by: Jaffamonkey on August 11, 2006, 09:19:34 pm
Hi Guys

I have a customer who wants me to clean her oriental rug. The only problem is a few years ago custy had an accident and spilled blood all over it.
Custy tried to clean up the mess themselves with a cocktail of things including ammonia :o

This stain is now a few years old but blood is still in the backing and I’m worried it will wick to the surface when i HWE.

The rug is a 30 year old family heirloom and I don’t want to make it any worse.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Simon

You do release ammonia is one of the best things for getting rid of blood...

Hi Mark,

Yes that’s why i mentioned she used it.  She couldn’t remember what else she used but says she tried everything. Apart from bleach i assume.
To be honest she did quite a good job but it’s still in the backing and i don’t want to bring it to the front.

Regards

Simon
