Title: Where do I put my di vessel?
Post by: Clear Vision on August 10, 2006, 06:05:53 pm
I have a 250L lay flat tank In my van. The pump I use Is mounted on the troley which I now never use and I also have a hose reel.

Because my water Is only 028ppm from the tap I only use a di vessel to purify my water. When filling up at night this takes hours and I was just wondering If I could fill my tank (In the van) up with tap water and take my di vessel along with me and work like that?

Where would I fit the di vessel? After the outlet of the pump and between my hose reel?

Cheers

Matthew

Thanks alex ;)

Where can I get 1mm fan jets from? The same fit as peter uses In his auto brush. The push fit ones!!! I think he fitted the 2mm ones on my auto brush and It seems to use quite a lot of water so I would like to try the smaller ones.

I tried to phone him but no luck. He might be on holiday?

o28 ppm, your very lucky!
I've same van mount tank as you
yes like alex says
I put my di in the van after the pump and then to my hose

If like me you have a problem making the water last the whole day, and if you have a varistream, I filled in my 3mm jets ( not fan jets ) with solder and then drilled them out with a 1 mm bit, thus I run a lower flow rate and get a good jet from the brush. and save water. I know thats not exactly what you were asking but its a handy tip I thought I'd pass on ;)

folks, this is how to make cheap spray nozzles from aquarium airline straight conectors, all you do is drill holes slightly smaller for a tight fit on the brush, push them in to the holes, and just push the hose on to the ends, doing it this way gives you pencil jets, or if you want fan jets, just put a small panel pin into the front hole, push it in tight, there you have it fan jets, it works great well for 18p each, try it you will be surprised,

Thanks jouk ;)

But how do they fit into the brush and where do you get them from?

you drill the holes at each side of the brush as normal, making sure the drill bits a little bit smaller in diamitor so its a tight fit, and then push them in, they are a perfect fit and size. you get them from any aquarium shop for about 50p for two, before puting into the brush try and see if you like them first,  connect it to your tubing from the pump, switch on and see, if you like it then drill into the brush,

its only a couple of ml, when you put the miniture panel pin in them, they become fan spray, this happens because of the flat head on the panel pins, sounds daft, iv done it, it realy does work, and all for a few pence, yes the forums doing nicely a lot more work to be done yet, thanks

as the pressure from most pumps is quite high (100psi) we'vefound it much better to go from tank to di vessel to pump to hose reel, just make sure you fit a strainer to your pump (only a few pounds), this way you won't get connections blowing off, pressurising the vessel can cause stress fracturing over time.

Beat me to it JM123, Matthew make sure you have a strainer before pump
otherwise you may find it cutting out due to resin form the DI vessel.

My mate has his set up this way and it stopped his pump, putting a strainer
in has now solved the problem.

always fit the di vessel after the pump.

here at cleantech we have seen countless pumps wrecked by di resin getting inside the head, as the purolite resin is a finer grade than the strainers supplied with shurflo pumps can handle.

Hope this helps

now we are talking, this has got to be the bees knees, no mess or strapping in di vessel pumps ect,in the van,  all in one tank system, these guys have definitly got it right, this tank has got to be the best yet, they also do them in ro

Jouk,

I got a pack of two today from pets @ home (I think thats what It's called?)

The are 6mm! How do I fit the hose to them?

I don't know much about hose but I see on some poles the hose Is black and looks like an electrical cable. Very flexible. What kind of hose Is this? I use 10mm braided hose on my pole but It's a bit too big :(

mathew, my hose is 8mm with 6mm inside diamator, so fits perfect, what you can do is fit a piece of spare tubing on to the connectors then cut them level, so all you got to do is push your hose over that  to become a tight fit,  fits  in the brush like this

good point actually,it depends on the resin you are using - sorry I should have mentioned that - at the same time we have seen a number of vessels damaged by excess pressure from the pump - the decision is yours but be aware of the pros and cons of either
